northcoast we think alike. This was to replace a tan Carhartt jacket with a blanket lining and cord collar. Carhartt stopped making that exact model (had buttons and not a zipper like current stuff) and so I thought I'd do my own take on it. The Pendleton lining is not nearly as substantial as a blanket lining, but Pacific Blue Denim has some Pendleton blanket fabric (I think) as well.

Yep, I had the same one, buttons, not snaps.
What was the lining you used? And how did you determine the chest sizing?

I went with a 5oz wool that I loved the color of and was available at Pacific Blue Denim. I took measurements of my Levi's Selvedge Type III trucker and my old tan Carhartt and a new sherpa lined Carhartt (as close as Carhartt gets to my old blanket lined jacket). Based on those I determined what I thought a good finished pit-to-pit would be and what a good waist opening would be. So the Ciano jacket is somewhere between the Levi's jacket and the sherpa lined Carhartt. The crazy thing is the Levi's jacket is tagged as a large and the Carhartt is tagged as a medium. The selvedge Levi's truckers run very slim. Ciano would probably say my jacket is closest to a medium in his sizing. Actually looks like it is 6.5 oz This 15oz would probably be closer to the blanket lining of my old jacket But Pacific Blue Denim has a couple of other heavier wool fabrics that look more like blanket lining. I even tried to buy directly from the Pendleton outlet but the lady never got back to me after her vacation for her daughter's wedding and I never followed up.

THis is kindof close to the orginal lining. and I like this one too Though the one you selected is one of the nicer swatches on the page. Any ideas on how that will respond to washing. It would be nice to be able to wash the coat once in awhile. Am looking at the canvas now. A nice washed canvas would be sweet as that was the hand on the original. Not finding that on the Pacific site though.

My guess is no washing for the wool I chose, but I don't know. I probably shouldn't have washed the original blanket lining, but I did.
Yeah, those were the two swatches that I thought you'd peg as the ones closest to the original jackets lining.

cianofarmer Although I'm not a fan of this quilted fabric, I really do like seeing the evidence of quality craftsmanship and design in your pieces. I'm excitedly awaiting my TX denim lot 3 jacket I ordered in December. Weather is warming here in Minnesota so hoping it gets here soon.

An update on this. Wore this a few times in 20-30 degree weather and determined I should have asked for quilted lining in the sleeves. Ciano said to send it back and they'd put in a quilted lining. Took me a while to get it to Ciano but I finally did and got it back today. It is perfect with the quilted lining in the sleeves. It's about mid 30s and it felt great. I think it is now a three season jacket (would have to be doing some physical activity on a truly sub 15 degree day) and I can't wait to see how it ages. Congrats. Looks nice. I have been contemplating getting something like this made for me. I had a burgundy canvas Carharrt jacket with blanket lining and a black courdoury collar in the 90's that I wore forever. Loved that jacket. Sir Selvedge do you have pictures? i would love to make one!!!!! Cheers Ciano

They had the buttons on the bottom so you could tighten up the waist if you wanted. Brass buttons and the one I had was like a softer duck.

Man I'm thinking more and more about a cianofarmer car coat / chore coat. Blanket lined and cord collar I'd like that too. But I want hand warmer pockets on any jacket I'd get. I think the only CF jackets/coats that have that are the Type III and the Field Hand jacket.

Cheers Ciano The indigoxindigo that I just got back from you with the navy cord collar, cuff lining, and pockets is as close as I can get to the old Carhartt jacket. I can take some pictures of the Carhartt jacket to send you. One thing I would upgrade on the Carhartt jacket is to do moleskin hand warmer pockets. The original has unlined pockets or canvas pockets.

Actually vest, the wabash. I love the look,, I am concerned about the length. I know no one has the wabash but anyone here have a ciano vest waist coat? Fit pic or comments please. Pics of people in the IH wabash vest look like they are wearing a half top . Also I wear my pants a little low so I fear I have to pay extra for custom length . So ya fit pics of ciano vest other than on ciano site?
