CF, that does look very fun.
Would you describe it as being tough like the 14oz indicates? The quilting makes it look somewhat fragile?

cianofarmer did you say you have lot 3 Texas denim available? benjaminpersitz the old man has a 15.2oz denim he wants us to see...Mike said when he saw it it was a heavy bleed...like the old denim back in in day...you touch it and the indigo comes off on your hand.... so it looks like we are going heavier and the 12oz is not going to be made anymore..you good with that.... ? so this stuff is like the old school denim back in the day..HAAAAA.. we are getting a 50 yard roll in next week....but the indigo will get on everything like it did on the 50's.. the old man said this is how denim was made when he did it...HIS WORDS.... "if the denim did not bleed like a virgin then why even bother"...WOW..... he is making this old school......HAAAAAAAAA he told Mike this is how they made denim before they started putting all the chemicals in the fabric to control the indigo bleed... Cheers Ciano

Very interesting. This one has been a long time coming. Is that the exact same material as the Wabash jeans you made me last year?

To answer my own question, I've just seen this jacket up on the site. It's the same material, but the price is over twice the canvas car coat one, so too much for me for what I'd see as a novelty item.
I see he's also put up an IH-alike Wabash vest at a good price, with options on thread and buttons, so that would be a good buy for those tempted by the wonders of IH vests, but who don't want to spend the bigger bucks.

northcoast, I have both IH Wabash vests and wear them (and others) almost every day, including to work. I find them really flexible and for me, they go with pretty much everything in my wardrobe, and find the four pockets particularly useful. At Ciano's price, I'd have bought if I didn't have the IH's. I'd also have gone for Ciano's Wabash Car Coat if it was half the price, just for a laugh if nothing else, but that price is just too rich for me when I wouldn't wear it much.

Wabash is a niche within a niche. I kind of like it but wouldn't wear it.
Crickets on the quilted material. It made me think of a moving blanket.
I'd like to see some non denim fabrics or the work shirt to resurface.

Yeah, I'm struggling to imagine the Texas farmer that'll be wearing that, but at least he's pushing the envelope.

But it is a very sharp looking piece. what would look good with this jacket is an off white waistcoat type D [ similar to the old 1800's western duster waistcost ]with the wabash car coat..we are making one up to show everyone the look. also IH is selling a non selvage wabash for 400USD..SO I THINK WE ARE AT A GOOD PRICE on this jacket and it is selvage.....IH is not... and we put alot more work in these jackets and it is handmade and guarantee for life..so please do not knock the value for USA made goods we put our heart and soul into. Cheers Ciano Cheers Ciano

WABASH waistcoat a pair of slim fit INDIGO/INDIGO selvage denim..RAW!!!!! 1000 miles boots cordovan..just shined and buffed hand made midnight black suit jacket, slim fit with a black/ black stripe in the the same width as the wabash. TEXAS made cardovan belt to match the shoes..the belt has to have a matte silver buckle. AND TO FINISH IT OFF a pocket handkerchief that says "THAT RIGHT!!!!!!" haaaa Cheers Ciano

An update on this. Wore this a few times in 20-30 degree weather and determined I should have asked for quilted lining in the sleeves. Ciano said to send it back and they'd put in a quilted lining. Took me a while to get it to Ciano but I finally did and got it back today. It is perfect with the quilted lining in the sleeves. It's about mid 30s and it felt great. I think it is now a three season jacket (would have to be doing some physical activity on a truly sub 15 degree day) and I can't wait to see how it ages.

I have been contemplating getting something like this made for me. I had a burgundy canvas Carharrt jacket with blanket lining and a black courdoury collar in the 90's that I wore forever. Loved that jacket.
