Fell into the Gustin fold over a month ago and backed a couple pairs in a 38 slim since my measurements pointed me that way. Got my first two pairs via the stock store on Thursday in that size and they were too large but I liked the cut a lot. I bit the bullet and grabbed some pairs in a 36 from the stock site (desperately need in F/W denim) and got the first two pairs in today:
#126 The Japan Summer #143 Bright Weft
Both fit incredibly well...had to do a little suckage to get that top buttoned on the Summers but man, I really like what G has been giving you guys. They remind me a lot of my favorite discontinued Nudie style. The weight on the Wefts is going to be perfect as it gets cooler in DC and today, the heat spiked up a bit so the Summers are going to get a workout to break 'em in.
Definitely glad I stumbled into your world.

Forgot to ask though...the inseam's definitely uncontrollably long for me (gotta do a triple 2" roll to get them right), can anyone recommend a mail order hem shop (other than Denim Therapy)?

Not keeping the 38s unfortunately. They're just going to stretch out and sag. For me, they have the right taper to them but there was so much excess they looked more like a straight. The 38s are The Greensboro (unworn) and BlackxAqua (worn yesterday).
I've got an email to Cody to see if he'll take back The Greensboros. The BxAs are beautiful and I'll go after them if they come back again in a smaller size. If you're interested let me know - if not, I could just send 'em your way for you to see how they'd fit you.

Yeah, let me look at the Greenies! I want to try a 38 slim, so this might be perfect! These? Greens

Yep, but those are the ones I'm planning to send back to G. If you want to grab them though for $89, I can get them out on Monday. If you just want to try a fit, I'll just mail these your way for you to try 'em on, fitting room style - no purchase required: BLACKXAQUA

I sent 4 pairs of Gs over (some of my Gs shrunk up to perfect fit with a soak, others needed the hem). ABFits does the chainstitch and they only charge $10 for Gustin denim. I will report back - I get mine back next week (about 2 weeks of turnaround time). Not bad, but I've got 6 other pairs to hold me over with these 4 out.

aaaand another one backed. The 16er. Excited to get this one. Backed it due to the praise it was getting in the G chat and love the color.

Got my shipping notice for the Downtown Browns today. They'll be waiting for me when I get to NY next week, and I also save about $55 in international postage, customs duties and handling fees, so it's more of a bargain now.
It's just a pity the Army Herringbone chore coat couldn't get out in time. It seems to be a week or two behind.

Got the Downtown Browns and am pleased with them. The fit seems OK and they're thicker and stiffer than expected, so I'm happy.

wdw; Downtown Browns are awesome, I love them so much I have two pairs (one slim, one straight). For whatever reason both of mine sewed up large in the thigh and inseam. I'm talking an inch over specs. I hot soaked the bajeezus (yes, that's a word out of my straights for about 2 hours and that helped a TON. Shrunk them up great for me. Fortunately for my slims I stayed at my straight waist size so it actually works out that they sewed up large

Ickes, I'm still on holiday so haven't been able to check the actual specs, but I think they'll work well with the Army Herringbone Chore Coat that's imminent and also the Irvin sheepskin jacket I've just got.
I'm no denim expert, so is an early soaking in plain water acceptable in terms of dye leakage?
Also, should I be expecting fades on the Browns, or will I just wash frequently?

Rule of thumb: If it ain't indigo, it ain't gonna bleed or fade like indigo. It's one of those strange and counterintuitive bits of history. Arguably the world's most popular dye is, in fact, a really shitty dye that doesn't bond to fabric very well. And it's so highly sought after precisely because it sucks! The power of SICK FADEZ cannot be denied.

Quite honestly, other than shrinking, the two hour hot soak didn't change my DBs one bit as far as dye loss or color, and I hot soaked them good. I boiled pots of water on the stove and poured them in the tub periodically over the course of the two hour soak.

Got the crosshatch chambray and sun plaid shirts in today.
The crosshatch was a new release and features those thin-ass buttons still. :/ Wish it had a gusset but overall I'm incredibly happy with the build quality.

How is the plaid alignment on the sun plaid? I hope to be able to buy G plaid shirt at some point in the future . . .

The pocket is ever so slightly off (like 1mm) but the placket's spot on - no one will ever notice the pocket.
I am surprised at how small these shirts are though - would imagine they'd get a lot more interest if they could standardize with other brands or get Old26's triple X rolling. That and a tall option.

Just picked up my Downtown Browns from the Royal Mail depot.
I'm as pleased as I am surprised to confirm they've come in measuring exactly 33.8" on the waist. In fact, all of the measurements are basically as per the Fit Guide and the actual fit once they're on is basically perfect. Also happy to report that the construction is *flawless*, all stitching is absolutely straight and I can't find anything even slightly off with how they've been put together.
"Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in"
Fair play to Gustin, this pair really are comparable to $200 jeans. Credit where it's due, good work. Really happy with these.

It would be great to think so. These are without doubt a quality pair of jeans. Great fabric (although we already knew that) but it's the construction that's impressed me. I've looked them over a couple of times now and honestly cannot find a single thread, line or anything else out of place. They're spot on in every sense.

Just added them to the sheet - although I feel it's a bit unfair, as these are the only pair I've had that came close to spec/tolerance on the waist and yet they're the only ones of mine that are represented on the sheet.
