Just added them to the sheet - although I feel it's a bit unfair, as these are the only pair I've had that came close to spec/tolerance on the waist and yet they're the only ones of mine that are represented on the sheet. might be nice to get your messed up measurements up there as well if you already have them written down. might help others at some point. when i read that you finally got a pair that was to spec i half expected the next line to be 'and they don't fit very well!' really glad that wasn't the case and that this pair worked out well. sucks it took 5 pairs to get there. Unfortunately, other than the waist sizes, I can't remember them all. Actually, the measurements are there for my J GreyXGrey (forgot I'd added those when they came in) and they were well out on the waist (32" for a 33Slim) so that at least balances it out a bit. Thanks re. the DTBs. I'm genuinely pleased for both me and Gustin that they're bang on. When they get it right, they really are great jeans. It'll be interesting to see how much they stretch out with far less resistance to work against than my other pairs have had.

It would be great to think so. These are without doubt a quality pair of jeans. Great fabric (although we already knew that) but it's the construction that's impressed me. I've looked them over a couple of times now and honestly cannot find a single thread, line or anything else out of place. They're spot on in every sense. Yeah, I'm hopeful this is part of a growing trend. I backed five Gustin jeans in early-mid July after I first stumbled onto the brand. Of those five: - One was the wrong size. I was sent a 37 instead of a 36. The 37 was as per the fit guide with the exception of the thigh, which measured about an inch over spec.
- One was scuppered as a 1% QA/QC reject.
- Three were almost exactly per the fit guide with the exception of smaller cuff openings, which I consider a bonus rather than a defect for the Straight fit. All were also pretty close to flawlessly constructed as far as I can tell.
The other Gustins I have that are out of spec fit-wise and/or exhibit comically bad sewing errors were all purchased second-hand between July and September, and I therefore assume were produced during earlier runs (prior to Gustin's public acknowledgement of the QA/QC problems and the promise that they were working with the sewer to improve). So I'm slightly optimistic that they did put a boot in someone's ass over at the sew shop and have gotten some results. Not perfection, but some results. I have four more jeans on order, backed in September, so I hope those come in as well-done as my three July backings that made it.

I had the same impressions about the stitching and told Gustin as much. I think they changed sew shops as the stitching was neat, straight, and well done. The older Gustins I have are a bit sloppy in their stitching.. sometimes the bartacks for the belt loops would cross over the selvage fly.. they were usually of different lengths, button fly always looked slightly open, etc. These latest Gustins, though, were well built.. if they weren't oversized for me, they'd have been perfect.

It looks like the Loomies are returning for the Saturday drop (via Gustin Instagram post)...

Re: IG pic - they could be the loomies or maybe something new and heavier? Intriguing idea - it could be something new - but isn't the Loomie known for essentially standing up on their own? They also teased the long-awaited colored wefts in the other pic - red and green wefts - I'm curious if these are a special run from Japan or if it's more of the dying technique that they've been doing with Cone Mills.

Could it be the 30oz loomies?

Not a whole lot of buzz for the Cone "Loomies"? Not a bad option.
What I think is more surprising is that the Heavy Americans are sitting at 9% with 10 days to go. $1000 fade contest and the standard-bearers for Gustin are moving really slowly.

Not too surprising about the HAs. There haven't been any further announcements or updates from Gustin about the fade contest since the first day, you'd think they'd try to rally some people. Also they're letting people with existing pairs enter, reducing motivation for a 2nd new pair to compete. And lastly the HAs have been offered steadily now for a couple of months, their pace is bound to be a bit slower. I am surprised about the cone unsanforized though. They're moving much more slowly than I would have expected.

I think the unsanforized came a little too quickly on the heels of the recent Loomies. I am tempted to give them a try, but I didn't opt for the Japanese version when the opportunity presented itself, so I'll probably end up passing on this one.
I think it's a little odd that they'll let someone with an existing pair of HAs enter the contest - I don't know if they're looking for "best fades" or "most fades" - I realize I'm splitting hairs probably, but seeing how someone could have been wearing theirs since the first offering, they'll have a possible edge over a new backer of the HAs.
Or maybe we're expected to forget about the idea altogether?

The cone Loomies look great in my opinion, and if I didn't have a ridiculous amount if Indigo denims already I would have jumped on them.

The Cone isnt loomies, they are just unsanforized.
I also didnt jump the fading contest because there are no rules. Nudie did this but you had to keep the reciept to show at the end of the contest.

Received the Heather Greys today (thanks, Chris!) and the Japan Royal Indigos (another BST find)...love 'em both. The indigo's super deep and rich, exactly what I was hoping for and that ID...that ID... buuuuut...what's up with this web of stitching...so many loose threads.

I've definitely been bitten by the indigo bug lately. Three pairs of jeans, a jacket, and I'm close to grabbing a canvas workshirt.

Bugula, do you still, by any chance, have the 38's you mentioned in the first few posts. I realized that I am actually a 38 in Gustin Slim Jeans.

I think they're going to be awesome faders, can't wait til I get a bunch of months in them. As far as the spiderweb in the crotch, well, mine don't have that. If they had, I'd have to find a way to cut or burn it away, especially if it's just a trailing thread that got caught up in one of the stitches.

There's one loose thread that's been sewed up between different seams as well as three loose ends. Whatever. Anyone who'd be looking at my crotch is probably doing so without the pants on... Would rather it be messy there than on a leg or rear pocket seam.

Just received some Gs #124 THE HEMP from stock. Don't know what to think of them, or when I would wear them, or how they will fade. However I think I like them. Banana yellow ID is killer and they are a very dark blue.
Surprised they haven't offered these again.

I've got a pair of Rag & Bones in grey with the yellow ID and am really hoping to see that material come up at G (I may have gained a couple pounds since I bought them). The yellow IDs are fun.
