I'm just jealous as my Gustin Italian Black X Black wouldn't fade that much in a boiling muriatic acid bath after being worn to banister slide down from the top of Everest.

I think so too. Sure, they're "ruined" but I'd wash the sh*t out of them and wear them. At least to do chores, etc. Might find that they're more enjoyable than we think. And you could wear a dark blue shirt with them and the fades will break up the tux look some. BTW, I only washed/dried my 21's due to the size being too large in the ass. Bonus was that Gustin made them hella long. I was going to keep going on my no-wash routine I started with on the Jutes. But I had to try this, in spite of reading wdw post! I've found a wash can really quickly ease some of the problem areas for me on the straight fit. They generally tighten up all over, and only stretch back out where you need them to. Indeed. That was my hope and that's what happened. This has a nice off-white weft, but not as much of it shows through as the 18's, so they're different looking and still heavy.

If I get a pair that is initially too big I hotsoak them and tumble and check them often and take out just before dry and hang dry, this can often shrink them while leaving them "unwashed" and often crisp if hang dry the last bit.
I also dont wash my pbj`s but they are low tension so stretch out in the ass so I use to warmsoak just the top block and then drip some and then hang dry. It works very good to tighten them up some while still keeping the creases and stuff on the rest of the jeans. Recommended!

My wife has an "AGA Cooker" oven, and it's the best place on the planet to dry jeans, sans the sun in SoCal.

You don't really mean one of those old fire-powered nice ones?

You don't really mean one of those old fire-powered nice ones? Gas. It's kickass. That's how I still get the gear I want. That oven cost me a fortune, and a broken toe.

I need some advice, guys. I was wearing the 23oz when cleaning out a manhole for a few minutes, like you do, then did a cold machine wash inside out which didn't clean them at all. Frustrated, I then did a 30 degree wash with the outside facing out. My wife now tells me that the jeans are covered in white lines and marks and look pretty awful. Is there anything I can do to fix this, like adding dye, or is this just an expensive lesson learned? wdw are they CFDCO 23oz? if so then i can help you..if not..hAAAAAA.... we know how to fix stains and other stuff..we have many jeans from our local FARMERS ,when they drop them off for the season, where we have removed epoxy from the jeans... email me if they our CFDCO jeans.. Cheers Ciano

Ok guys, just home from work. Here's a couple of pics. Because it was so indistinct with the flash, I've increased the brightness and contrast to show the marks. There's a few fade lines I'd expect around the hips, but you'll see the long lines down the legs and also weird patches here and there. They're still pretty black in real life, but they couldn't be worn to the office now. Despite the two washes, they haven't shrunk much, so I'll keep at them and hope that eventually the marks become less distinct. This was the first wash, by the way, after quite heavy use for the last 3 or 4 months. WDW we can repair them//do you need the white to go away? back to the original look? let me know? Ciano

Hi cianofarmer, yes they're your jeans. I appreciate your offer and would take you up on that if I was in the US, but it's not worth the hassle due to the shipping costs from the UK, so I'll just put up with them. They're still wearable, but just not in polite society or in front of the general public. It was my own stupid fault, due to being impatient and not reading the instructions, but my wife tells me that that just proves I'm a typical man.

wdw you didn't do anything wrong. the first step with anything that involves instructions is to pick up the instruction book and throw it in the trash can. Then you move on to step 2. Every man knows that

@belopsky, ha, they look like I've been attacked by a random bleach thrower. They're a bloody mess, unfortunately, with no upside.
I'm even more annoyed now I see that they seem to fade, which I wasn't expecting as I thought it was a solid black.
I need decent black faders now and I'm miffed that I didn't jump on the G blackxcoal. I have the G Japan and Italian blackxblacks, and although the Japan's show a little promise, the Italian's look solid. Both wearable to the office though.

What's an easy proper way to re-dye jeans or chinos that have the above issue? Maybe with like black dye or whatever won't cost an arm and a leg
Edit; I used powder black rit dye like 61scout mentioned below on my gustin graphite military twill chinos and it worked like a charm. One black packet turned em grey navy and black. They are more versatile, fit great and no visible damage anymore. I won't be buying anymore gustin chinos because they don't fit me well without ruining them first. Can't wait to get some ciano farmer chinos soon tho (not gonna mess those up)

Powdered black like rit is easy to do. It may take two times to get them even.

I just scored a pair of gently used 23oz indigo denim from a guy on eBay for only $85. Pretty excited about breaking them in over the next year or so.

Nice. I have been thinking about ordering some of those soon so I would have them for winter.
I have come to love my 20oz Anniversary pair from them.
