For you guys with these pants, how do they stretch/shrink? Trying to decipher the sizing instruction on the order page and debating between 2 sizes. I guess if they stretch at all I'll go with the smaller size, even if they snug up after a wash.
Would that be a major mistake?

Whiskey Mercenary, I haven't worn my jeans enough to say one way or the other, but as I've said a few times, this is a stiff, solid material, more so than my other similar weight jeans. My guess would be that these stretch less than others, so if in between, size up. I usually wear a 34" in all jeans, and got a 32" in Ciano sizing, which fits fine. Ciano should be able to advise you.

But it was easy to email CF (I think I even called him), to dial in a size.

OK, First of all, Ciano is awesome!
Just chatted on the phone about these and am totally happy and excited about what I ordered. What a guy, he's setting the bar high for every company out there. I honestly think this will be my go-too for clothes from now on.

Maybe we can talk Ciano into sewing up shirts too. Lord knows he can do a better job than the drunken pirates G uses.

Jeans or a belt. Tall shirt if you absolutely must and the sizing works.

I know Ciano wants to do a shirt at some point, but since it sounds like it's just him and one other guy, they are having a pretty hard time keeping up with orders as it stands right now. He's being pretty smart and trying to not overpromise on anything. I'm ok with a guy making awesome pants and sticking to that.

Ciano is currently running with just himself, and Mike, and a gal, for which I apologize for not recalling her name, and an intern from a local fashion school. I do know they want to do old school workshirts, made old school, but obviously not ready to start with the current backlog.
Ask Roman, its not very easy to just hire a buch of folks that can sit down and make the clothing we want here, and with the quality we demand.

I WANT Ciano wabash pants. I don't think I can PULL OFF wearing Ciano wabash pants. Haha. I was the same. For some reason they just looked good, and a nice change from the usual denim. I initially wondered about pulling it off, but now I don't care what others think and have gone Wabash-psycho. I started with an IH vest, then an IH shirt, then Ciano jeans and I also have a fancy SJC vest coming too. Disclaimer - I don't wear more than one Wabash item at a time, no matter how amusing the pics might look, although I suppose I could do a headless one for Wabash-posterity.

whiskeyriver, I might just do that when I get home at the weekend. I don't suppose it's much worse than going full-on indigo. Ciano's been talking about a Wabash vest for a while now, and I do think that would look good in his current Wabash material. And I'd have thought it would have been comparatively easy to make, but I suppose he's snowed under with his current catalogue.

Hey bentin, I was just curious, what's your thoughts on Gustin's shirts? Hmm, laying it on a little thick? I'll back off. But since you asked... When I moved into my new house a few months ago, the previous tennant left behind some super thick, soft, but absurdly fragile toilet paper. I always forgot to change it when the deed was done, only to remember when I next needed it. If I'd only had my Gustin shirt nearby, I would have used it. Oddly and counterintuitively, my Wabisabi WS is tits, I'll buy another G WS when they can bring themselves to offer another.

I'm sure the toilet paper the previous tenant left behind wasn't nearly as buttery soft as the Gustin shirt you would have used, so that would have probably been a smart move. I wasn't quite sure what your opinion on their shirts was because you never really bring it up. Just feel free to express your opinion and your thoughts a little bit more around here, ok? don't hold back.

Haha, I'm kept up at night about how freakin' difficult it seems to be to get a J Crew quality shirt thst's made in the US that isn't a trainwreck.
TS can do it, F&T too. But both offer a handful of materials a year. Ratio is good, but I wish they had more options like Proper Cloth.
Shirts people, it can't be this hard!

That reminds me I still haven't gone to Ratio to get measured. I guess I never really found too many fabrics that were that exciting, but it'd be nice to get some great fitting shirts, even if they're just oxford cloth or whatever. It also helps that I seem to be somewhat lucky and can usually find things that fit me pretty well in standard sizes.

Sizing is tricky, but quality and symmetry is where Gustin, Gitman, Hamilton and NE Shirts all disappoint me.

Since we completely derailed this thread, I might as well keep it going. I kind of have this silly hope that maybe Gustin would partner with someone like Ratio for some shirting runs. I actually think that the boys at Gustin do a great job of finding interesting shirting fabrics, so if they had a partner who could sew them up right, it would be a killer combo. The Ratio OCBD's are $29 more than what Gustin charges for them, so maybe we have to accept a $50 premium for a "customization" style order (so both parties can make a profit), but for some of the fabrics, I'd be willing to take that hit knowing the quality I'd get from it.

Pipe Dream, Would Never Happen. If it ain't broken... Gustin shirts are there baby. They designed them and people buy them (Still!). They won't even take the buttons off the collar. They don't listen to the crowd anymore (I could argue both pros and cons on that). The Scoops are Sooooo Freaking annoying/odd/funny looking and they are proud of them. Meh!
