They've added a bunch of interesting fabrics to Soso's site as well, most within the last 2 weeks. A couple interesting options - 11 oz navy(indigo)/olive herringbone (could be a nice chino), 18 oz, uneven weave, 16 oz "twisted" selvedge (not sure about this), and 20 oz Japanese selvedge to name a few.

Looking over this thread I see mixed reviews/experiences How long have you waited on average and any other large issues besides the button blowout I saw a few pages back? Anything else to add/think about before ordering from this company? Thanks

Looking over this thread I see mixed reviews/experiences How long have you waited on average and any other large issues besides the button blowout I saw a few pages back? Anything else to add/think about before ordering from this company? Thanks I will say that while my most recent pair had a few malfunctions (button/rivet popped and the back pocket fray), the guys at Soso are very responsive and remedied that concern (sending me more buttons/rivets and a 50% off code for my troubles). I sent the jeans of to ABFits for some inexpensive fixing/reinforcing ($10). All that said, I have 2 other pairs (black/black w red ID and a Kiahara Broken Twill) - love the quality and fit. I opted for the Slim Darryl (slim taper) fit and it's been spot-on to the fit guide each time. I actually opted to size down 1 in the waist for the 16.3 oz slub to avoid soaking - it reinforces their notes to consider sizing up for the heavier fabrics. As for production and shipping - it's relatively quick. Most updates on this thread are accurate. About 3-4 weeks from order to shipping. Not sure where you're located. For me it's great - Bangkok to Phoenix is clearly a direct flight. I receive a shipping notification and have my denim in just over 24 hours. Don't hesitate to reach out to Jannis if you have questions. He will provide any information he can. He has sent me different pics of fabrics when I was between two different broken twills. Hope this helps. My toughest decision is on the next pair I "need".

Wow, did not expect the price point on the jackets to range from $259-$419. Projected the $250 price range for the heavier options. The customization is nice, but I don't know if I'd mark it up that considerably from the jeans. They did not do a good job with their market research. Perhaps they did and their fans are that loyal. Easy pass, especially with the lack of lower pockets.

are these style of jackets without pockets common? Looks kinda awkward at least for me.

Check out the Levi's 1967 jacket or the IHUK-526J for example. I base my opinion/point of comparison on the Brave Star Ironside jacket, which is a Type III with the lower pockets. Much more effective in my opinion. But for that price, it should have the lower pocket option.

I've been in touch with Jannis from Soso on these and have tried to provide some context as "free consumer advice" the the Soso guys with their product. Specifically with the jackets, I noted that "I hoped they didn't overprice themselves in the market place" given the prices versus the options. Jannis did respond, and noted: Looking at a shelf item denim jacket at Nudie will cost you 375 usd for a 13oz fabric.
Iron Heart shelf item 21oz will put you away 419 euro so our most expensive (25oz) being at 400 usd is still cheaper than both those options if you take into consideration that the choice of denim, thread etc is yours.
Secondly, most denim jackets available out there are non selvedge meaning they cost at least half (probably even less) to produce...fabric wise. We solely offer selvedge.I think these guys do a good job with the full custom, but I do honestly think they may have missed the mark on price with the jackets. As exophobe noted, it's a shirt essentially with the lack of the pocket options. The other point to refute is that they didn't do a lot of market research to overlook the options like Brave Star who can offer a Type III in selvedge for $120-130. Perhaps I'm way off on this. I suppose the price will adjust if so.

You can also get it on Rakuten for 288 dollars.

Completely agree to both points above. I don't think they realize the depth of knowledge many of their consumers have. I kept my comment general to Jannis to not sound price critical but to hopefully trigger them to consider their market. Nonetheless, I'm going to invite him to join here and answer any questions we may have.

Custom options, turnaround, and build quality nearly make it worth it (just going to leave Indonesia out of it since these guys aren't selling garbage). For me, a denim jacket is purely an occasional wear item, though, so I'm unlikely to spend more than $300 on one ever, and it'd have to be a thousand times more charming than that Arnold from Green Acres.

What do you guys make of "twisted twill" denim? Soso has this option and I can't figure out what weave that would be. I reached out to Jannis at Soso and he sent me some more fabric pics. He didn't really explain the weave. It's not a RHT or LHT, more of a broken weave but closer to an elongated twill. The warp pic really looks like the G Silk Slubs. Not really a fan based on that shot. I'll probably end up taking a flyer on the 18 oz uneven weave or the 17 oz candy nep. Why not? 50% off is worth a flyer.

Black Friday sale 40% off

Black Friday sale 40% off I'm tempted by the PBJ purple weft knockoffs, but I'd want to customize the pattern and then the piece comes under shipping minimums so it feels like a lot of messing around for my preferences. I'll probably just wait and grab the real thing one of these days.

For 40% off, it's a good opportunity to take a flyer on some of the heavier options. I've debated another 16+ oz option. The 17 oz rainbow nep option and the 18 oz slub/uneven weaves are on my radar. It would be awesome if I could stack the discount with the 50% off code they gave me for the manufacturing hiccup on my 16.3 slubs.

Didn't use the Black Friday sale code, but the sale motivated me to use the 50% off code the Soso guys gave me. Picked up the 13 oz canvas green. I wanted something non-indigo and this is a great alternative for my collection.

Soso continues to drop the most unique fabrics...granted, not MiUSA, but where else can you find some of these? All these new fabrics are in the their midweight category, nothing new from the heavy side, but they do have some solid heavy options. 13 oz Scotland Cherubic 12 oz Jacquard loom 12 oz Indigo hbones 14-15.5 oz slubs

I've ordered 2 pairs of jeans and a shirt from them. I always purchase denim with them when it's on sale for about $100. They are great and I love their work. The last order I put in with them they didn't have the rivets I chose so they changed them and gave me a code for a 30% discount on my next order. They've got my business and my support, so I recommend their work.
