These guys are fast. I ordered on the 14th and they shipped already. I'm supposed to get them Weds. I'll post pics when I get them. Couch The rainbow selvedge broken twill from their last kickstarter campaign is quickly on the way to becoming one of my favorite pairs of jeans. The buckle back is a little silly for me but it's a nice little detail that is largely unseen since I'm typically wearing an untucked shirt. I added extra belt loops and rivets on back pockets. I don't think I added much more than that. They are now in Cincinnati. I'm looking forward to seeing what they are like. Couch

I'm hoping to have a shipping notice on mine in the next week or so.

They showed up! The quality is fantastic. These jeans are dope! And freak'in heavy. I just wish I would have measured a bit better. Everything fits well, I just don't like the rise. That's my fault. I should have ordered the Classic Straight or whatever it is. I just like a longer rise is all. Couch

Just received shipping confirmation on my Soso order from 9/15. Interested to see these - the 16.3 Japanese Slub Sakeshi. I opted for a size down in the waist (I've done a 33 slim darryl on my first two), since my first two pairs have needed a soak to dial them in to where I prefer them. I'm not looking to soak these for as long as I can.
I am impressed at how quickly they can turn a custom product. And how quickly they can ship! Bangkok to Phoenix in 1 day. Notification this morning, scheduled delivery tomorrow. Perk of living in a hub city I guess.

People should have to look at my butt crack. Couch

Has anyone actually checked out the classic selvedge fit? It's the one that they have that tends to solve pretty much all the common complaints about their heavy taper and low rise. If the taper works for you, though, then this is not what you're looking for.
That's what I get, and it gives me a bit more room through the calf than a gustin slim, and enough rise to keep my ass in my pants, where it belongs.

Soso 16.3 oz Japanese slub sakeshi arrived today (10:30 am...so basically 24-28 hours from the shipping notice in Bangkok). I'm glad I opted for a 32 slim taper over the traditional 33 slim taper. While it's a little more snug right out of the bag (good thing), I'm glad there will be no initial soak. The slub is definitely noticeable and I feel like these will only get fuzzier and break in pretty great. I'll post up some pics soon.

Got back home from a night out with the girlfriend and was enjoying how nicely the denim was breaking in...first operation of the button fly and boom...3rd button down popped off. Before anyone rushes to judgement, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt to offer up a solution. I many end up hitting up Manny (local for me) to swap/reinforce/replace the buttons on the fly. I'm slightly feeling guilty about that ask...I have him hem up my non-Indigogene denim and now repairing another non-Manny pair. Perhaps I'll buy a shirt. Or maybe I'll just hit up another repair shop. It's not a deal breaker. Hard to tell unless I'm seated (and you're staring at my junk). The girlfriend sees the lack of a button as a win. You can see the great slub/neppiness of the fabric - excited for the break-in on these:

Update to the prior - reached out to Jannis at Soso and he is sending me some more buttons and offering to cover the repair cost stateside instead of shipping halfway around the world to fix a button.

Super easy to replace yourself if you have a hammer and a moment of sobriety. As soon as I get a few new buttons from Jannis, I'll try it. I was going to stop by Manny's shop and see if he'll do it for $10 (what ABFits charges). But I like the idea of drunk hammering. "Yes, yes that is a button on the side of my leg. Don't ask how it got there."

Sobriety is optional, so long as you have reasonable muscle memory with a hammer.

I just received my 25 Ixi in straight "jeremy". The sizing is complying with the chart it is large enough to the knees for my calves and the hems are tights but not too much. The backrise seems to low for me but it may be due to the rigidity. The back pockets are (too) low. The fabric is fuzzy and very starchy. Colour is more navy than deep indigo and it will show the white core of the fibre very very fast. I will see. But I expect fast and strange fade. I have also a mark of adhesive tape on a back pocket that have removed some dye

matt who I believe owns these and anyone else, how do you like the broken twills? I do. I have the 12oz Kiahara broken-twill. I was between these and the currently offered 13.75 redline broken twill. After reaching out to Jannis and asking for some side-by-side picks, I opted for the Kiahara. It was also during their first Kickstarter, so the deal was awesome. This is my first of three pairs from Soso and I will say that their fit (Slim Darryl) is definitely consistent. As for the fabric itself - I wanted a broken twill just for something different than the norm. It's a dark indigo, and where the fading is happening, the bright blue is a really nice contrast. However, I'm not sure if this is the norm for broken-twills, but they are sllooooooowwww faders. I wear these and my American Antiques from G both 2x per week and the Soso's really show minimal fading after 9 months of wearing. They are super soft however.

That's exactly the info I was looking for - the one they have available now is different then what matt and you have have but that's what I wanted to know. Sounds like a cool fabric I should consider

In 16.3 Sakeshi Slub news, I received in a matter of two days, the replacement button hardware from Soso. They sent me 3 new buttons and a bunch of Soso branded rivets as well. I have a lot of backups now. And I'm really excited for these. Nice amount of slub and stiffness. They are a little hard to maneuver in since the slim taper is probably one I should have stayed 33 slim on (instead of trying the 32). Nonetheless, once broken in, these will be awesome.

One more update on the 16.3 oz Japan Sakeshi Slub from Soso - resolved the button blow out issue with no challenges thanks to Jannis sending me extra buttons and rivets. I did have one pocket rivet also blow out. Another easy fix. The latest challenge has been the following - back pocket blowout only a handful of wears in. Needless to say, I was disappointed. This is my third pair of Soso and the first that I've encountered that have had issues. It's a stubborn fabric, very dense and starchy/stiff for a 16.3 oz. It feels more substantial than my American Sixteeners and much stiffer as well. I reached out to Jannis about the issue. He responded quickly and apologized. I asked if this pair miss QC and he noted that this particular fabric has been a little more challenging than others. He quickly offered to cover the repair cost and/or offered me a 50% discount on another pair in the future. I may end up grabbing a Rebel jacket (their new Type 3 jacket coming in a little over a week). As for the repairs, Samantha at AB Fits is going to fix/reinforce the denim for $10. I would reiterate that I'm not letting this impact my perspective on Soso denim - my other two pairs are both really well made. This pair will be pretty awesome with a little help from AB Fits.

Soso's dropping a new denim jacket tomorrow, the "Rebel". Fully customizable (fabric, thread, buttons, etc.). Pretty exciting news (especially sitting on a 50% off coupon for the above issue on my 16.3 slubs. Pics of the Rebel can be seen on their fit guide. It's a Type 3, but it's missing lower pockets. I reached out to Jannis on this, and he confirmed "Not initially, no. We will add lower pockets later but we need to start off simple so that we can handle production and actually deliver." I'm glad to hear that they are managing realistic expectations. Granted, I'll probably hold off on the Rebel since my Brave Star type 3 has lower pockets.
