12.5oz Christmasakkuh weird guys on sale for $118 at theclassroomshop.com if anyone cares I can't see myself wearing those or N&F now. I tried on 3 of there slim fits and they all seem way to baggy. Even sizing down didn't help.

I've said this before but I give credit to N&F for testing the waters and trying new stuff. Some of it is cool, and some of it is horrible.
case in point, their new Vulgar selvedge is as gimmicky as they come. It's definitely cringe worthy. It seems too that they've rehashed a couple of fabrics that they've already done, like the Hemp selvedge which they did in 2012 and the Rusted Blue selvedge which is essentially the same as the jade selvedge from last year or so. Not sure what to think of the new Sunrise selvedge....they look like the ultimate dad jeans.
But, I do like the kaiju 16.5oz denim and the green tea dyed denim as far as interesting jeans go. I guess they're just doing what they do no matter what people think, which is a good thing I guess.

"I dunno. If it ain't broke, don't fix it."-- gaseousclay (from selfedge thread--nine lives brand) lol, bad joke; sorry! In all seriousness, I think its awesome to push the boundaries of the status quo. It's too easy to fall into ruts and into industry group think. And it gives us something to talk about

In all seriousness, I think its awesome to push the boundaries of the status quo. It's too easy to fall into ruts and into industry group think. And it gives us something to talk about Fair point. I think experimentation can be a double edged sword. In the case of the Nine Lives brand, I really like that sashiko jacket that's up at SE -- the jeans not so much. I know i've come across quite a few denim brands trying to do their own thing, and for some of them it works and for most of the others it doesn't. I recall there being one denim brand, that's likely buried in the 'other denim brands' thread, who looked very promising. Unfortunately, their gimmick was having an exposed button fly which completely threw the look of the jeans way off and made them look weird. To my eyes it looked like the brand was trying too hard to differentiate themselves from the crowd, but in doing so they ruined a classic look. With N&F I don't know if they try quirky/gimmicky styles because they can, or if there's an economic incentive for them to do so. I have a hard time picturing Brandon Svarc pitching ideas to his co-owners and thinking they've hit a home run on every single one. At some point they have to say to themselves, 'ok, this idea's pretty stupid.' (invisible denim, i'm looking at you).

Chernobyl denim (radioactive) - too risky as everyone with sample pairs is currently in treatment for testicular cancer. 2. Liquid denim - looking to quickly capitalize on the success of Spiderman 3 and the black spidey suit. This one, like the next one, failed due to government intervention. 3. Alien denim - created based on a random mysterious substance found in the Western Canadian woods, these denim didn't make it to market due to "the government needing to do more research". 4. Kriss Kross denim - backwards selvedge! On hold until this trend returns back to style (circa 1991). 5. Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl Champion selvedge - too soon?

It definitely seems N&F is using the shotgun approach to the denim game--one of those pellets is bound to hit something good! Being innovative while at the same time keeping true to your core mission vs doing something weird or different just to make a statement. I'm still sold on the 7pocket idea (cell phone, wallet, keys, knife, flashlight, etc...all while my front pockets have a reduced capacity because of more fitted jeans.) for the main reason that no one would be the wiser because they use the back yoke for the pocket seam--RIP cargo shorts/pants, I still miss you

per Heddel's intel:
1) f!@k, Shit, Bitch Ass selvedge
2) Diamond twill looks cool and may actually be subtle enough to wear
3) Loud Japanese-inspired print button ups
4) Cashmere denim

For the record, this is not an easy image to google without finding a large trove of porn first.

Imagine going through an airport security with those hemp raws. Oh boy you'll be detained for hours. Lol

I can't speak to the quality of the hemp blends but I'm guessing they're decent. Hemp is a very strong fiber which should make them long lasting. Although, they're only 10oz so that may effect their longevity.
From personal experience, I own a pair of Left Hand Twills and regular indigos and they're decent for what I paid. I got them both on Fleabay for around $50/60 each. when you consider price points and the fact that they use Japanese denim exclusively i'd say their jeans are good bang for your buck. However, i've noticed some of their more exclusive offerings edging up in price to around the $200 mark. I'd never pay full retail for any of their core denim but could be persuaded to buy some of their more unique offerings. i'd wait for the hemps to go on sale somewhere.

anyone even considering taking a plunge on their easter weekend mystery sales? I took a look but the price of the "mystery shirt" was more than some of the sale shirts that I would absolutely never wear, same for their "mystery weird guys". my luck I would get a cheetah print shirt and a pair of cookies and cream denim... would rather pay for a gustin denim grab bag and get the pink powerpuff denim....
