Steve, nice move. I have a pair of their CXL semi-dress, and a pair of their Nomad Engineers boots I bought for riding, although they are great for all around use this time of year. I am hooked, as they offer more arch support than anything I have ever tried. I would suggest you purchase from Bakershoe in Eugene Or., as they are a dealer, and offer free shipping, and sell them cheaper than direct from Whites. Go figure. Also, their website is way better than Whites, and you can see where you can customize things. Give Kyle a call there, as he is the White's expert. Also, for me I don't pay any sales tax, where I would if I bought from White's direct, as they are made in Spokane, WA. and I live in WA.

Dave, THANKS!
I am supposed to be getting a free catalog in the mail soon and I did find Whites website a little weird. I just wanted a "see all boots" view so I could zoom in from there. I want to get a daily wear pair and a riding pair as well.
I'll go through the shop you mentioned, I really appreciate the tip.
It will be nice to get out of the sales tax (I'm in CA).

Btw, things may have changed for the last five years but check out the Semi-dress with unstructured (plain) toe if you like lower profile boots. Either the CXL brown or #8 are great leather. I also love the Vibram 700 sole.

Amazon actually has some Semi Dress White's boots in Chromexcel Black or Brown for $312 plus taxes with the code CYBER14 thats good for a 30% discount. That to me is an insane price for these boots.. Free returns too as sizing with White's is tricky.. Amazon Link

Don't think you can change the configuration. The ones in that link are SDs in Black or Brown Chromexcel, unlined, single celastic, close trim, standard height cuban heel, single leather sole with antique eyelets and hooks.

I buy mine through Bakershoe and they guarantee the fit, so no worries there. The support these boots offer my feet has me won over, as that's all I wear anymore.

Too bad they got bought up by a Japanese company. Actually the same company that owns LaCrosse, and Danner. Still hand made in Spokane, WA., and as long as it stays that way, they will get my business.

The world is tricky that way. Between outright corporate ownership by purchasing a company, owning a controlling share of stock or even the political ties created by contractual and supply arrangements it's hard to draw any sort of line on what constitutes American made (or Chinese made, UK made etc) unless somthing is 100% located and privately owned within a country. That's exceedingly difficult to pull off once a company gets past a certain size. I'm with Dave on this one though, the boots are US built and put people to work here so that's cool. I have no issue at all with Japanese ownership. Knowing a craftsperson in Washington is sitting down and making these boots and doing high quality work is the point.
I'm kind of a dreamer, I have no bias against foreign made goods (if the people doing the work are treated fairly) while at the same time I want to see the US return to being a top teir manufacturing powerhouse. Sometimes those views seems incompatible.
Back to the boots though, I'm going to place an order through Bakershoe (thanks again Dave) after the holidays. I've got a paper catalog coming from Whites and I'm in 'net research mode trying to find the right choice of boot from Whites. I really want something close to a derby style, or at least with a stitch across the toe box, mid height boot with a vibram lined leather sole, Leather type and color after that....looking at all the options is really fun.

I just mailed my tracings to Kyle at baker for a pair of SDs in #8 cxl. I'm pumped. First pair of whites and mto boots. Kyle has been very cool and answered all my questions quickly. Now the wait begins.

I have been recommended whites over viberg. I might have to take a look at them but I'm in love with the style and shape of viberg

I have been recommended whites over viberg. I might have to take a look at them but I'm in love with the style and shape of viberg I had Whites semi-dress and had handle a pair of viberg. If price is no object, Viberg is your choice. If you do want great value, Whites with custom options can look very "close" to Viberg.

Most of the Whites I've seen that I've liked were apparently custom. I'm not sure I exactly understand their ordering system and it's hard for me to picture how they'd turn out based on all the options. But a few I've seen on reddit just blew me away, especially a pair in green CXL that somebody posted.
