I forgot to mention this brand when talking Socks. Anyone else have experience with People Socks? They're a basic hiking sock in the same vein as Smart Wool - 71% Merino Wool and MiUSA. I ordered a 4-pack a couple years ago and, for the price, they've held up pretty well. They get really nitty after a couple washes (more than my Smart Wool) but that's about it. The only thing I noticed is that in my 4-pack each pair was of varying thickness. Roughly $9 a pair for american made wool socks.

I've never had holes in my socks from my toes. No matter what type of material (wool, cotton, blend), heels are always first. Maybe the issue is not with the socks, but the footwear, like boots fitting too tight or not wide enough so that it makes your toe rub against the inside of the boot? gaseousclayIt's certainly possible but my current NB shoes are a 10E. I wear them daily and upgraded to these after previously wearing 10D's. I don't wear my boots often either

Now that it's warming up what are some good no show socks thar are durable and comfortable? I know smart wool has some but I'm iffy on their quality, and darn tough just came out with some that I'm going to try out. Your feet make awesome no show socks. Plus they'll make your footwear smell horrific and you'll get fun wounds to th back of your heel. I'm currently wearing a bandaid for such an injury. But no show socks are like near beer to me, a category I'm going to remain ignorant about.

Difficulty is I am size 12 and sometimes they bite into the top of your foot. As to Bentins comment........he is correct. If you want stinky shoes and bad foot hygiene, go barefoot!

It's 95 here today. It's flip flop season. But I'm trying to look less like a surfer bum and wearing Vans more. Shit, that doesn't really change things, does it?

Great for being around the water on the boat or the beach as they can be immersed and you can easily hose the sand out. They do run a size small though.

They are MiUSA, they have several options for color, size, etc and are just $10. They are a nylon, acrylic, spandex blend. Don't know if the lack of natural fibers is a problem for you, but it definitely makes them durable. The Darn Toughs look nice too. My Wigwams show no sign of wearing out anytime in the near future, but if they do, I'll check out the Darn Toughs.

I like the all cotton thick Wigwam boot socks that have the extra cushion. Anything not cotton or wool make my feet miserable when at work.
Lately with the warming weather I have been wearing super thin liner socks. Very durable, no sweat or odor.
Normally I wear the liner socks under my wool socks in the winter with steel toes, but am liking them on their own lately.
