got the salt and pepper canvas workshirt as well as the heavy black X coal work shirt yesterday... The fabrics are definitely cool but I have come to the sad realization that G workshirts do not work for me. The arm length and overall length verse the chest width is too much at odd for me even with tailoring. This is a little unexpected as their button downs are perfect for me after I have the sleeves shortened. In the end I guess it is the overall length that is the problem. Couple of pics below but I am about to post these on the bay.

Couple of pics below but I am about to post these on the bay. I thought the same thing so had mine tailored (shortened in length by an inch). Then I washed and dried. Shrunk another inch+ which now made them very short and cropped looking. I basically ruined them. Try a wash and dry before you give in.

Couple of pics below but I am about to post these on the bay. I'm not sure I understand... The chest doesn't fit or it does and the overall length of everything is too long? These will shorten with a wash since they're raw fabrics, potentially shorter than your oxfords (though all my Gustin slim xl shirts are pretty close after cold wash hang dry). As someone else said, what size are they?

exophobe thanks for the insight. Some additional details: I have most of my clothes tailored and believe that a tailor can do just about anything for a price. I am a small classic in G button downs and a small in G tees and jackets. I love the fit of the tees, button downs and jackets. I have the sleeves shortened on all my button downs which adds $25 to each shirt but I'm completely ok with this and buy G button downs with this in mind. My ideal button down shirt specs are chest 20.25 and length 26.5. With shrinkage over time G small classic button downs get to these measurements but only when they come in on spec per the G sizing charts (classic small chest 41.5, length 29.75). Sleeve length doesn't matter as I have them shortened. We all know that G sizing can vary from one piece to the next but the workshirts I have received have been small in the chest and long. When this happens, there's no room for the shrinkage in the chest that can be expected from washing and still have it fit. For example, the Black x Coal WS arrived at 20.25 in the chest and 30.5 inches long. The three G workshirts I have received are similarly spec'd. I can have the length shortened ($30) as well as the sleeves ($25) but adding $55 to price of a G workshirt puts the shirt into a different price bracket where I can get Japanese brands used or on sale that fit perfect. And the G shirt will still have the chest size issue. This is just me and my sizing preferences. I imagine this chest/length ratio works for a lot of people. With all that said... I am going to soak the workshirts and see what the shrinkage is like. Enough typing. Time for some pics...

Maybe you will get them sold easier with them untouched.

A new arrival (Japan Khaki Workshirt)... Changed images from Dropbox to Postimage & added a new photo. Painful on an iPhone. It would be good if the forum supported direct image uploads.

The forum does, it's just not visible on the mobile version of the site. If you're looking at the desktop version, there's an "add an image to this post" link. I can see the photos now, so I appreciate you going back and changing them!

Is this possible?

Washed and dried my brand new black x coal today. It's a silly shirt. Just ridiculous how stiff and unrelenting it is. I agree on length. I've been buying slim larges but went with a slim medium this time. Still very long. And I'm 6'2". The wash/dry helped.

Is this possible? I think it's through the forum host, but could be third party image hosting. Either way takes most of the work out of it for you. I just use imgur and it doesn't give me any trouble, but it is a few steps.

Is this possible? We did have this in the beginning but we are only allowed so much free space which we used up. There is a charge for more. We could pay for more space with donations from members etc. Having the third party uploading available conveniently as it is seems to work for most. Just clicking on desktop site using a mobile seems fairly easy to me. Tapatalk also allows you to upload photos.

Fortunately, it took around 3/4" off the length, without sacrifice in the chest. Shoulders shrunk a touch, and the sleeves came up, about a 1/2". The fit is nice. Still a tad long in overall length, but within reason, for me. I can layer a tee or light to mid weight button down underneath. On another note, even though the pepper tones down the salt some, it is a bit bright, for my liking. I smell kakishibu in it's future. Another summer project is in the works.....

G today dropped a new brown organic cotton x hemp workshirt: www.weargustin.com/store/3731Have been wanting a brown selvedge workshirt so have backed. Texture looks better than the brown slub chambray that has dropped as a button down a few times.

Texture looks better than the brown slub chambray that has dropped as a button down a few times. I kind of want this shirt too, but the price is a little steep for a Gustin shirt IMO. On the positive side, it seems to be a pretty unique-looking material for a shirt and the lighter weight is good for mild temps.

Albino WS today. Listed with contrast stitching and navy buttons.
Glad to see them trying things with the WS again, hopefully they keep it up long enough to offer something interesting and also get their marketing dumbass to pay attention.

Looks like an interesting shirt... but $140 is a little rich for my blood.

White Work Shirt. Maybe for a Painter. I know you're just trying to talk yourself out of it because of your no-spend, as otherwise you would be talking about getting it as a dye project. I think it looks fine, it's weird seeing people here complaining about a white shirt, though.

I like it a lot. If they'd increase their chest and shoulder width by an inch or inch and a half, and chopped the length a couple inches I'd be in.
