Man I like the 20oz secret denim. Hopefully rakuten restocks but not too soon. Really should save some cash....

Just picked up my oni 517's from the post office - no customs fees I'm happy to say. WOW - what a crazy pair of jeans like nothing I've ever experienced. Amazing texture and weight. Took a bit of a stretch to do them up and the rise felt a bit low at first. I've sat down in them for 5 minutes and they already feel more comfy like sweatpants. How the F do they make these things? I'm so hooked it's not funny.
Rodeo bros was excellent - ordered on Thursday morning and in my hands today including fee chain stitch hemming.
I am a 100% cell bitch

Is it safe to use Rodeo Bros measurements to compare to Gustin sizing?

I used blueingreen soho one wash measurements to compare to Gustin. Only difference is the thigh where Gustin measures 2 inches down. Blueingreen I think measures like Rodeo bros right across the top of the thigh.

Well, I dove in, head first. ONI-575SV 22oz Natural Indigo Kabuki Vedge ordered. Just waiting on a shipping confirmation from Rodeo Bros. Suddenly, my other jeans don't seem to matter quite as much.

For those of you getting the raw/unwashed Onis, what's your strategy with sizing? Buy the size that looks like the best fit out of the bag and then wear them in the tub to prevent shrinkage when it's time to wash them? Or size up one or two, soak them straight away, and hope they shrink to fit?

I was thinking of that model too. What's the story with the "coupon available" banner for that model from Rodeo Bros? Did that reduce your price at all? Edit: never mind, i figured it out. It's good for 500 JPY.

The coupon has something to do with point redemption. Being my first purchase on Rakuten, I had none.

Yup, that's what prompted my question. I'm a little concerned about how low the post-wash rise is on some of the Oni fits. What did you get again, the 517?

Mattbert - used blue in green soho post soak measurements too and they were spot on to the one wash I received in the 517's. Trust the measurements. So if the rise is too low....they'll be too low.

ickes, jray: Thanks, fellas. I guess the 527 cut is the one I should be on the lookout for, then.

Is that the relaxed straight. I may try that one too. Depends how much stretch I get from the 517's.

Have any of you guys on Rakuten run across the Blue fits Oni's in something lighter than 20 oz? Still wary of anything over 16 oz here in Houston...
Also, I'm struggling between Oni's and Sugar Cane Okinawa's...

575's ordered. I'm on the Gustin schedule. 22oz right in time for it to get hot here.

Paulr - I got the 517's and they're 14.5 ounces. Love them

I'm just up the road in Dallas. 22oz seems ridiculous. But I couldn't resist. I debated the 517's too, but have a ton of indigo denim in that weight and nothing truly heavy. All logic points away from the 575's for me, which is why I'm excited to get them.

Paulr - I got the 517's and they're 14.5 ounces. Love them Thanks jray. My only concern is the fit on the 517's--they are a slim, correct? I think the regular straight is probably better for me. I think they (all of the shops) may be out of my size in the 517s anyway. I am very much struggling with buying the 20 oz secret denim--they have one pair left in my size--I keep having the wants vs. needs dialogue in my head, and I know you guys will be not helpful with this...

I tried the G Super Heavy Slubs which are 18oz, but I wore them a total of like 5 times max here this winter, which is why I'm trying to unload them. Just seems like heavy denim is less useful in these swampy parts of the world--at least Dallas got some snow... Perhaps the Oni's a different because of the looseness in the weave, I don't know. I do know I've wasted the better part of my day waffling over this decision.

LOL...That's exactly how I was before I pulled the trigger on my 517's. I went back and forth for like 5 days on it and finally copped them and good thing I did too because I got the last pair in my size. Just pull the trigger and get it over with, you know you want them. Just better to buy them and be done with it than to torture yourself for days trying to decide if you should get them or not. Just rip the band aid off quick, you know?
