So cool, the darker thread is close to tonal and I'd bet after a few washes it would be really close. Plus the lighter thread looks like a nice, subtle contrast. Oh good lord that olive denim is sick.

I love the added character the contrast brings. I've been eyeing these for a couple weeks. I've been waiting for the return of Gustin's Japan Umber. They are considered a "brown" denim, by their definition. But, IMO, they have a very olive cast. I believe these are a far superior option to them. Considering, you can cop a pair of Oni olive for around $60 more, off Rakuten, you be crazy not to nab a pair. I know I will, as soon as Rodeo Bros has a restock.

So I soaked my 517s last night and I have post soak measurements. These things are ridiculous, they fit perfectly and are just an awesome denim. So I will list the pre-soak measurements again using blue in greens fit guide measurements and then the actual measurements.
Blue in Green Fit Guide (Size 33):
WAIST: 35"
FRONT RISE: 10.5"
BACK RISE: 14.25"
THIGH: 26"
KNEE: 18"
CUFF OPENING: 16"
INSEAM: 36.75"
Actual Measurements Pre-Soak (Size 33):
WAIST: 35"
FRONT RISE: 10.5"
BACK RISE: 14.25"
THIGH: 26.25"
KNEE: 18"
CUFF OPENING: 15.75"
INSEAM: 36.25"
Blue in Green Fit Guide Post Soak Measurements (Size 33):
WAIST: 33"
FRONT RISE: 10"
BACK RISE: 13.75"
THIGH: 25"
KNEE: 17.5"
CUFF OPENING: 15"
INSEAM: 34.75"
Actual Post Soak Measurements (90 minute warm soak)
WAIST: 33"
FRONT RISE: 10"
BACK RISE: 13.75"
THIGH: 25"
KNEE: Just over 17"
CUFF OPENING: 15"
INSEAM: 34.5"
So overall the results show that using the Blue in Green fit guides as a reference for pre and post soak measurements on the Oni's is a very accurate way to help choose your size. They are basically spot on. I was actually very impressed with how accurate the fit guides were.

wow ickes those b.i.g. measurements and your own are pretty spot on, with the actual measurements probably slightly more desirable. that's awesome.

As of yesterday, I am an official member of Club Oni. My 22oz Kabuki Vedge made it. No customs fees, either. Delivery took 8 days. A little longer than most reports. But, by no means unacceptable. They did come from half way around the world, after all. Awesome dude. So what are your thoughts man? I'm hooked ! There is no going back. I, like most, have questioned the cost/quality argument, when it comes to denim. I can now argue, the quality definitely outweighs cost. Edit: I may have paid twice the price. But, anything I have at half the price comes nowhere near half the quality.

I thought for sure that at least the post soak measurements would be off quite a bit but no it was pretty spot on. These things fit great, more than happy with them.

I love their denim more than anything. I mean their construction is good but not the best out there but the fabric is tops for sure. Thats just my own tastes so thats up to taste

Its pretty common in the denim community to hear someone say "measured the BIG way"

Thanks, guys. @david, your description of the color makes it even more tempting to me. This is going to be tough to resist.

Okay, guys... I slept on this for several nights, but just pulled the trigger (from BiG - nowhere to be had on Rakuten - plus I greatly prefer the clean back pockets). At least I have documented evidence on this forum to present to my wife that you knuckleheads encouraged my behavior.

Dude, you said those jeans were for her in that one post that you deleted....no one here would encourage a guy to buy expensive shit behind his womans back. OK back to Rakuten for me.....

Ickes - which ONI's did you get - were they the 517xx or 517xx BE - I assume the BE stands for beige for the beige weft and which rakuten shop did you buy them from?
Thanks

Thanks 517xxBE are the ones I bought, 16.5 oz beige weft Unsanforized. Great pair of jeans, I love them. IIRC I bought them from FRISBEE, but I can double check in a bit.
