Oh I don't know. I didn't but them direct from Railcar. I got them through an online retailer.
I'll inquire.

Sweet. Per their website free hemming on their jeans regardless of where I purchased them. Now I just need to figure out the inseam I want for a single cuff/light stack.

With the lower rise and being a size too big, these gap open at my lower back when I sit. Think plumbers crack But the top box, thighs, knees and taper fit just the way I wanted. Torn between spending the $ to have them resize at rc or just living with it.

Recieved my X016, already putting them to work tonite! First impressions - good fit (somewhere between a Gustin Slim and Strait) Love the Copper hardware Not a bad stitch to be found Like the look of the classic LockStitch on the inseam Denim has a smooth hand, grayish look, not soft, tough but not uncomfortable. 16oz is the sweet spot for me. Back pockets are a bit bigger then Gustins (not good or bad) Thought the pocket bags would be made of some thicker material (but good)
Only one small thought that I would change, they put the selvedge edge on the button fly. So at the right angle, when sitting and it bunches, or if it folds with age, there will be a white edge running down the crotch. Not a big concern, if it draws attention to my crotch, that's your problem.

I've got 4 hours in these x016's. So far the break in has been easy. I can tell these may very well be my best fitting, which is what I was after. The rise is about an inch more then Gustins, makes bending/squatting at work easier. I didn't buy these for the complexity of the denim, more for the construction and the 16oz. But they are interesting and growing on me as far as the look and feel of the denim. Smooth, softish, subtle slub, almost looks fuzzy (like the Loomies) but its an illusion when I look down, looking strait at them they are not fuzzy but smooth. Kind of cool and something only the wearer may notice.

One of these days you guys are going to finally convince me I need to spend more than $200 on jeans (I'll be honest, you probably already have).

So, would I recommend the RailCar x016's??? Let me answer it this way... If someone asked me to recommend a vehicle I'd ask them what their budget is and how are they going to use it? For example if its their first car, I'd recommend a civic, focus or corolla. For a pair of jeans - Any pair of Gustins or Naked and Famous under $100 If they have a better budget a Accord, Camery - any Gustin, N&F over $100 If they needed a to tow or carry tools a Ford F150 - Gustin Heavy Americans If they had those and wanted something fun/cool to ride get a Harley Davison - a pair of Iron Hearts Or something alittle different a Cafe Racer - a pair of Pure Japan Blues If they wanted something that everyone was talking about and very few have I'd say get a Ferrari - a pair of Lawless (of course most of those spend there time in the shop being worked on) So whats that make a pair of RailCars? Something classic that only gets better with age, Strong, American Made, something that cleans up nice and you can bring the wife out to dinner with but load up and go to the job site on Monday with. Something everyone remembers seeing when they were a kid but doesn't have. Them a FSJ (Full Size Jeep) is what you want! If this is what you would want then a pair of RailCar x016 Is for you

Although I don't think I could pay that much for classic indigo denim, they do look really nice, and the fit is spot on.

Just shipped off a second pair of Gustin's to get tapered and hemmed at Railcar, 1st pair came out great so I have high hopes. I'm getting it done on the Hemp's and when I get them back I'm going to coat them with Sumi ink (inspiration: tateandyoko.com/news/focus-sumi-ink-selvedge/ )

A good read, thanks for the link. To my mind, there's just something right about Railcar that's missing with so many brands. Without getting too whimsical about it, I think it's just that certain 'thing' nobody can actually artificially create - you've either got it or you haven't.

Yeah I really want to test it out and it's pretty much the only way I'm going to get any wear on the Hemp's. I'll make sure to document as much as possible.

Time to send the x016 back to be Hemed. I usually do a single cuff but on these I was Thinking of going with a small double cuff. Any thoughts? I kind of like the high water look, flashing my Red Winds.
