Brave Star Selvage Sale - $63 for 24 hours beginning 6/28 @ 5PM. Via ShopSpring.com.
Not a bad idea to partner with an app to drive traffic. 20% off is the deal essentially (starting at $63).

Yeah, but I don't need another app and another login, 90-day no spend notwithstanding.

So I think davelewis was talking about Cramerton cloth somewhere else in the forum (yes, I'm too lazy to look it up), but Brave Star has a pre-order of chinos in selvage Cramerton Army Cloth ( here). I strongly dislike khaki colored pants, but I have to admit these look sharp.

That's been my main issue with Brave Star; the fits are all a bit 'off' (slim taper and skinny look very similar, for starters). Would love it if they offered some unsanforized options as well- the brand as a whole looks great considering the price point.

Yeah, but the belt loops. Those things look seriously short. I don't have any skinny belts any more (thank you Saddleback).

On the website, they don't even show what length inseam they come with. I've got Ciano looking to source some Cramerton, and am kind of holding out for a pair in his 905 cut. Actually, after checking back, I now see a size chart. I must have been running low on coffee yesterday!

I've come back around to Bravestar and may check them out in the future. The appeal of lower cost denim is that it allows me to try new brands without breaking the bank. Im still not big on having an embroidered star on my ass but its a minor inconvenience.

Wanted to post a quick review of Brave Star - I've been debating the need for a denim jacket (I know, I don't have one...gasp!). So I looked at a bunch of different options and wanted something quality but affordable. I've been one who's intrigued by some of the lesser promoted brands on this forum, and have found some quality goods as a result. Style: I wasn't sure if I wanted a Type II or III or even a riders jacket (Long Haul by TS). I've always been drawn to the classic stylings, so I decided to give the Ironside Selvedge jacket a try. Brave Star offers a Cone 13.5 oz denim with brown weft for both the Ironside and Steadfast (slim fit) styles of jacket. It's referenced on the Steadfast specifically, but after a quick email to Mik, he confirmed that it's also the same on the Ironside (confirmed when I received it). Fit: I noted that there's a slim and regular fit. I'm typically a slim fit, but opted for the Ironside based on styling and the sizing specs aren't too far off between each in a medium. My thinking was if I bought the Steadfast, no soak, and with the Ironside, I gave it a quick soak. Perfect fit. It's an awesome top layer for the "winter" in Phoenix. The jacket was easily the biggest smurf-murder to date for me, as my fingers are still blue while I type this. However, after the soak, I could see some initial areas with character developing. I don't think these will be too difficult to get some quality fades. The blue is not as deep as the G Antiques, but the wefts are similar, so from afar, it's a borderline brown-weft tuxedo. Quality/Craftsmanship: I'm really impressed by the overall appearance of this jacket and how the lines are symmetrical and there are no misaligned stitches or anything. Quality production. In reference to the general "eh, I don't care for the star on the item" - it's on the back center below the collar up top. I don't mind it there. It's a nice touch no different than other brand ideas and elements. I'll try to post up some pictures this weekend. Also, they are running 20% on ShopSpring.com.

Cool. I ordered a type II from Indigogene but if I wanted a type III I'd have no hesitation with Brave Star. They seem to be a "sleeper."
And yeah the G Antiques are damn inky blue and they don't seem to give it up much either.

Does anyone have the Cramerton twill chinos? Looks like they are out of stock on the Brave Star website, but there are a few sizes left on Shopspring (not in my size unfortunately). I emailed them a few weeks ago and they said they would be restocked sometime in February. For $80 this seems like an unbelievable deal. Yes, the belt loops could be bigger, but I can adapt. The cut looks really good. These are pushing all my buttons. When restocked, I'm thinking this will be my last purchase after a clothes frenzy over the past six weeks or so.

I don't have them (picked the non-selvedge TS in that color khaki), but I agree with you on the fit/value, it's spot on. I signed up for a notification on when they restock. I may need to add another pair to my rotation.

I wonder which cut they will offer in the restock. I guess I'd be fine with either one, with a slight preference for the chino cut.

Granted, I don't have any of their jeans, but if the fit seems close to my style (slim like the chino), I'd be good with trying in. I've been wanting a pair since G failed on the Khaki Selvedge Twill.

They made the khaki selvedge chino (chino cut), but when they attempted to run the jean cut something happened. I found out when I reached out after 2 weeks behind the update they provided.

Thx ... overdRAWn Here's the Ironside jacket: imgur.com/a/l56G0I had it made in the 13.5 oz. brown weft Cone denim. While I've read the Cone's are not fast faders, I'm seeing some character developing quickly, with only one initial soak and probably 3+ wears per week.

Thanks for the photos matt. I was thinking I may have found my next jacket until that star popped up. Still might not be a deal breaker...but it is close.

Thanks for the photos matt . I was thinking I may have found my next jacket until that star popped up. Still might not be a deal breaker...but it is close. It's a beautiful jacket, and well made. I think you either love or hate the star. I don't mind it, as it's done with the same thread as stitching, doesn't look like whatever the hell is on the back pocket of Momotaro's, and is just a star (that isn't screwed up in the sew shop). It is clearly a jacket that made it through QC. I may eventually pull the trigger on some denim or at least if he ever restocks the Cramerton selvedge chinos. The price is too good to pass up. And I didn't see the star on the chinos.
