Thanks. I just subscribed. I really need a pair of casual wingtips and that black pair with the natural sole color looks sweet. Oh yeah, i love these as well. They remind me of the Trickers x End longwing: I prefer the brass eyelets but I forget the word that describes the brass vs. the simple holes punched in. Hope they come in Brown! And some tread would be nice as well.

I like the casual derby longwings like the ones above (as well as the Thom Browne black pebbled ones) with thick soles. I think it's the exaggerated "widow's peak" above the toes that does it for me. Traditional brogues usually have a stubbier peak. I have larger feet (12US), and I think the longwings look a bit better in larger sizes.
Anyhow, I'm not a fan of your basic oxford grampa longwing.

Knowing most of you hate these, I can't help but lust after them. Thorogood "Portage" line - hard to find and not cheap, but not the most expensive on my list.

Whatever floats your proverbial boat. I'm just glad to know that googling 'bowling shoe work boot' brought those up on the first page. These must really work for you: They didn't pop up until the second page.

Your more recent pics actually make them look more interesting. Nothing weirder than Danners with red laces.

Bought em. From Japan to my door in 3 days! Who makes them? What do you think? The leather looks ?? In the pics but... They are made by Yoshi. The brand is 'Craft-Rite'. He makes 2 other models - a short engineer and a regular engineer. Really good quality (I cannot find a single fault ANYWHERE on these boots). The leather is steerhide. John's posted about them:http://vintageengineerboots.blogspot.com/search?q=craft-rite Yoshi's store: craftrite.fashionstore.jp you you need to email him or Facebook to order outside of Japan.

Don't forget that Nick's, White's, Drew's...all can be made lace to toe. You need to wait but they'll be custom

I'm going to get these once the money flows again... Which - black or brown? I've got nothing black, shoe-wise, sans my dressers for the Tux, so I'm leaning that way...

The Lone Wolf boots are great. The story History Preservation told me is that they are made in a small shop in Japan in batches. Once they're done, they're done for a year or so, until Toyo decides to make more..
