Well shit, that combines two of my wants. I suppose the odds of it being indigo with a colored weft are about zilch though.

I suppose the odds of it being indigo with a colored weft are about zilch though. yeah, i've been wanting to get a pair of samurai, but with more of an oni fit. of course if it's a contest pair there's little/no chance it'll be non-indigo...which is what i'd be after. |

I didn't think this was necessarily a collab between oni and samurai but rather 2 separate collabs with denimio and a contest at the same time.

Jan 5th if I understand the date correctly. My guess is that the oni's will be the 5 or 417's and the samurais will be 710xx both with custom articulates and pocket bags. The samurais are missing from my collection  |

Wow, excited about this one. I like what I see from both brands but, have yet to pull the trigger on either brand, Because I cannot decided on any one pair of them.  I hope this is not some one off "contest" pair of jeans with oni doing one leg and samurai doing the other leg. David, please keep posting information on this contest from Denimio as information becomes available. |

seen this thought not a chance these two would collaborate together but against each other sounds interesting.
looking forward to seeing these for sure had no idea guess I should of held out a bit longer before I bought both the s710xx & 517xxbe :/

I think it would make more sense if it was 1 pair of jeans as opposed to 2. My hunch is that it's 1 pair with Oni & Samurai collaborating together and the drawing posted will be the leather back patch. Samurai put out a pair of jeans not too long ago with a back patch that looks similar, except it was 2 samurai facing each other |

Sammy 710xx are a great pair I fully recommend them. I'll be posting wear pictures but mine are coming along.

So I'm a bit confused....this is a fade contest between Momo and Oni, but the jeans being used are existing fabrics for each brand? So it's basically a fade contest where you can pick between several choices of each brand, correct?
I initially thought there was going to be a whole new design collab between oni and momo and that would the pair used in a fade contest..

At the very least, the contest Oni have a boring ass white weft, instead of the usual tan.

ickes the only details about the make-up of each pair is listed above, but it appears that both makers (Oni and Samurai) will be making special lots specifically for this contest being facilitated by Denimio. I'm uncertain the details of the denims other than the weights listed above and that they are almost certainly indigo. My assumption would be that they are the same denim being used in each maker's current model listed, but the document linked does call out that the Oni will have a white weft and not a brown weft. Each pair will have construction details that are specific to these contests pairs. Which are listed above based on the info available. Apparently there will be a variety of prizes, the grand prize being a trip to Japan and 3 finalists can design a collaboration model of which they'll get a pair. The 'collab' part isn't necessarily that the makers collaborated on a pair of jeans, rather they're both making a specific pair for this 'fade battle'.

ickes-it seems to be the usual fair where the denims are existing but they use a unique patch, buttons, arcs, and number each pair for the purposes of selling jeans. PBJ did a contest using an existing denim with a greenleaf as opposed to the usual color. I agree that this is nothing special but there seems to be a lot of people who enjoy these contests. The prize is pretty cool.

I'm tempted to do this, but as others have said the fit of the Samurais have put me off. The Onis aren't interesting enough for me... so not sure on this.
The prizes are great as well. A shame; I'll think it through as there's still a couple of weeks or so to go.
