doesn't that defeat the purpose of having a community article?

If we're going to do SSF Anniversary jeans, we should go all the way and have it represent the ideals that the forum was founded on. From the beginning, this forum was driven by the belief that nice denim could be made in America for less than boutique prices. If we make a clothing item it should be to prove that nice denim can be made for less here. We should select the finest materials/construction methods available and have one of our small denim brands on the forum make the items. The design should be a 100% new/SSF exclusive design from the cotton fiber length to the stitching type and hardware. I've seen some affordable American jeans that look sorta nice, but never quite measure up to the Japanese brands. -> This is why many of us have switched to Japanese denim despite US denim being woven in our 'merican veins. There is no reason why we cant have the nicest jeans around made in America at a reasonable cost. Sure it's a tall order, but all we need is to unite and form an alliance to get it done. /rant over

Ciano has too much business where Manny is looking for more business, though Feltraiger said he would definitely be down for doing a run of shirts, I can't imagine it'd take too much convincing to switch that to a run of jeans, but I don't know what his production constraints are. It'd be cool to line up the hardware Ciano uses (copper rivets and buttons), but I know he developed that so he may not be willing to send an order of hardware to someone else to put it on their jeans. If we could vote on arcuates and all that, something Dirty_Denim was talking about that seemed to be well received was a sort of hidden arcuate that fades in over time. Throw in some chainstitching (with contrasting thread on the inside like Ciano does) and I'm there.

Pacific blue denim posted on IG that they got some rolls of cone indigo canvas in. I'd be down for Manny doing a run of shirts in that and bypass the current TS offering

What brand makes the best fitting jeans or shirts ? Whatever that is should be the pattern chosen for the jeans or the shirt. Unless we have a pattern made? Once we have that we will need to ask more than just "Can u make me this" FYI Russell Schurtz (Circle A Brand) did this exact thing but with a fade contest attached for Denim Bro which turned out great. Members pooled their resources to come up with everything needed. They even repurposed bank money bags for the pocket bags if i remember right. The whole ordeal took a year to complete.. That was partially because Russell had another gig to complete prior to starting the jeans. Everyone involved needs to know the timelines based on which option gets the nod. I also think this person should be organized and trust worthy . Bad stuff has happened in situations like this so keep that in mind. This is more than a pair of jeans but a business transaction as well www.denimbro.com/circlea-and-denimbro-d33-dungarees-contest_topic1160.htmlCheck out Max's pair which happened to win the contest www.denimbro.com/circlea-and-denimbro-d33-dungarees-contest_topic1160_page41.html?KW=d-33+dungarees

Sounds good. Put a red chain stitch on them in a nod to Gustin.

Sounds good. Put a red chain stitch on them in a nod to Gustin. Or just sew them at sea, drunk, in a storm and only allow random people access to buy them. Bitches.

Whatever we do, let's not get the same style Denimbros used - I wouldn't wear them in my house let alone outside. Sorry if I've offended anyone....

On the Denim Bros thing. Yes I am sure most will agree that it is not the style for most who are on here. Different strokes. I will say I have reached out to someone to possibly help with the leather patches who has a big presence there.

I received a fabric sample from cianofarmerIt is a very nice! 20oz Japanese Indigo with green selvedge line. It is somewhere between stiff and butter soft. I like it personally. I will post up pics soon. Also a sample of their heavy leather patch. It is a nice chunk of leather. Working on a 18-21oz black selvedge fabric as an alternative to indigo also. Here is a rough logo for the leather patch. Text will change to reflect final product. It will include text listing the manufacturer and made in the USA. The SS and 21oz will get smaller as more text is added. Will not look so bold when stamped either Feel free to give your thoughts. Had feedback of not having the text follow the circle pattern on the top.
