I was going to put this in the Kickstarter thread, but it has apparently evolved into a shaving thread. This is a Kickstarter offering, but it could be an alternative to the Gustin heavyweight belt (or a future Lawless belt offering?) - Kendall & Hyde Co. - not a bad alternative for $60 with a choice in color.

You guys are killing me.. I just backed the Kendall & Hyde KS. I've been looking for a nice, thick, harness leather belt and the stretch goal was the clincher. Now I just need to figure out how to explain why I need all these belts to my wife =P Probably going to get the 2 pack.. one black and one natural Harness. I've got two Hollows belts.. one in Chromexcel and one in Black Latigo. They're really high quality belts with great leather. One Etsy belt from Sage&Pine Leather: www.etsy.com/shop/SageandPineLeather - Total no-frills belt made with bridle leather. One Gustin belts that I got for a great price on eBay, but never use.. the buckle just doesn't feel, or look, substantial enough.. the leather's nice, though.

If any of you brahs live near an amish community, It's worth a look at the leather/harness shops. Not the tourist trap stores...I'm talking going to the Amish themselves. I bought a great belt, black heavy and thick, for about 30 bucks.

I live in Amish Country. I am happy to take a look and get a line on a good source. Totally slipped my mind to look in a harness shop around here.

Have lots of Amish art and photos here from Bill Coleman - a family friend who was one of the few people allowed to photograph them. Man, I miss PA right now...

Lititz, PA was voted 2013 " coolest small town in America" - hard to disagree, the character of the architecture, Wilbur chocolates, and of course, Appalachian Brewing Company. I think the entire area has a ton of character.

When you're on the road 80%+ of the time, nothing tastes better than a local, homestyle meal!

She's going to Berlin, Charm, Walnut Creek, Trail (you know from that Trail bologna you eat). I'll be headed there this weekend for some Autumn color site seeing and some comfort food covered in gravy.

The Berlin, Walnut Creek, Sugar Creek area is right where I'm talking about...Check out Coblentz leather. The buckle isn't much, but can be easily replaced.

I went to school with a Coblentz, but we got all our leather from a Hershberger. I still have a pair of Sheboygan Boots I bought 32 years ago from Hershberger's, that I wear occasionally.

I'll see if I can convince my family in PA to do some belt/leather research at some of the local Amish spots as well.

I watched some and we got to "help" as kids. What I want to do is build a log home one day. Family in Montana have a company that does that, and that's what I want as the final landing spot. It's a pretty good feeling to accomplish something like that, sans the Subway...

What I want to do is build a log home one day. Family in Montana have a company that does that, and that's what I want as the final landing spot. It's a pretty good feeling to accomplish something like that, sans the Subway... My grandfather did that in Maine back in the '40s. He and his buddy from med school, right after they graduated, each bought some land on a little pond up there. Did everything themselves with hand tools. Dropped the trees. Floated the logs across the pond. Hauled them up the bank. Prepped the wood. Built the cabins. Dug and hauled the rocks for the fireplaces too. What a legend. Almost 70 years on, and the place is still standing. We had to replace the roof once, but all the walls are original. I remember when we did the roof--this was a while ago now, I was 19 and my grandfather was 72--I was up there attaching new rafters to the ridge beam and I saw him standing in the middle of the cabin staring up through the skeleton of that roof. I called down, "Haven't seen the light like that in here for a while, huh?" He nodded, smiled a little half-smile, and then quickly turned away and walked back outside. Not before I saw the wetness around his eyes, though. That place means everything to me, but I think it meant even more to him.
