Thought I'd move my Boys graduation gift discussion here.
We decided on a pair of Alden's for them to start the journey of like in.
Problem is finding a pair they like (and Mom).
They like either the Chukka or the 6 eyelet
What are your thoughts on these?

I think this color would be more versatile than the loden green ones

Bought my Boys each a pair of Kudu Chukkas (they both really like them and didn't like any of the other Alden "Old Man shoes").



Same boot Style and Leather but from different vendors.
Oddly there's some differences

Like the raised Alden logo


The different soles
One pair seems to be 1 piece and the other 2

They're a sharp pair of shoes/boots.
They can go from digging holes to wedding if need be.
Very oily, all that's needed is a good brushing for a nice shine/sheen

Funny how my whole closet followed the purchase of the ubiquitous CDB (like many I suspect leading me to styleforum yada yada). Have purchased a couple chukkas since including the AE Amok. Never really payed attention to any chukka since. These however are dope having somehow missed them. Hard to lay down $500 for a Chukka as some would argue there are more worthy Alden purchases but damn these are sweet. Pretty torn between the commando and leather sole and the cordovan and CXL especially the natural.

I wasn't a big fan of the Chukkas when we ordered them.
But then they came. Now I'm second guessing my Indys and want to wear my Boys boots (but I don't, they say it's weird).

Haha, I bet. They are really nice. Still wear my CDB; actually an extremely well made boot for $75. The cordovans are the first serious cordovan consideration of mine for sure. I will try to score a deal on ebay. You wear RW Iron Rangers, Wolverine 1000 milers or AE's by chance? The best sizing comp I read was a .5 size down from AE park avenue. Thanks.

Next boot for sure. The color of the Cordovan and the antique welt with commando sole put this boot in the stratosphere. The antique welt appears pretty rare for some reason. So tasty.

Nice! Must be the same seller as the Ebay ones I saw for $350. So tempted yet pretty confident I need an 11. Great find. Hmm, free return shipping.

DigDug, dude. Good looking:) Haha, bank account was consoled with a return "for sure", however, they fit tits at 11.5. I am a 12ish in a AE 5 last. damn near identical I reckon in width as well. First pair of Aldens. They are really nice. The welt is beautiful. So need $300 for the Cordovan fund but man $300.

Can't get over how comfortable out the box these chukkas are; soles feel more broke in (in terms of their flexibility or bending for lack of a better word) than any my well worn leather soled shoes/boots.

Curious, are they GYW or Blake? I have come to the realization that my feet and GYW do not like each other, and they never get truly comfortable. All Blake and Stitchdown from here on out.
