Hey guys. I bought some N&F weird guys from Nordstrom ( shop.nordstrom.com/s/naked-famous-denim-weird-guy-slim-fit-selvedge-jeans-indigo/3186324). They are my first N&F. I sprung for them because they were on sale and thus very cheap compared to my other selvedge jeans. I am usually size 36 with most of what I wear. The fit guide everywhere says true to size. I put them on and instantly I have a good amount of room around the waist. However, they fit basically perfectly on the thighs. They should be very difficult, but possible, to button at first right? They're pretty loose-ish. Should I go down to a size 34? They don't sell size 35 anywhere online for near the price I paid for these. Do you think 34 would be possible? Also, the denim does not feel 13 oz. or stiff at all. In fact, they are pretty slubby and soft and you can see the fuzz on them in the light. Is that

You could've gotten the 34's and been good. I usually consult Blue Owl Workshop's fit guide as it's pretty accurate. BOW consistently has the weird guy size 34 measuring out at 36". You gotta do your research first before buying denim based on price, otherwise, you'll be stuck with jeans that don't fit correctly. Best case scenario is you give them a hot soak and they'll shrink in the waist

gaseousclay, yeah I looked all over and they said true to size (including some other forums haha). Buuuut, I unfortunately didn't consult Blue Owl Workshop's size guide. I definitely should have. I knew better. Luckily, Nordstrom will take 'em back and I snuck in an order for size 34 for half of even what I paid for my size 36. Turned out to be the last pair of 34!

I hope the 34's work out. I've been through the same thing. I've looked through BOW's fit guide a million times and figured a weird guy 34 would fit me, but my weight fluctuates and I now know a 33 would be best. Sometimes it can be a crapshoot but when it works it works

N&F jeans aren't identical across the board. Some fabrics are bigger or smaller for the same fit/tag size, and it isn't always bigger or smaller the same way.

n&f is vanity sized - 34s will work good for you in a weird guy fit if you're a true 36.

So I wear a 34.5 comfortably.
My e4 Nfs were spot on at 34.
Their weird guy fit is not as slim as g's.

I've noticed this too when comparing weird guy sizes on BOW's site. There's a little bit of variation between jeans depending on the fabric but they're not all identical

Very good to know. I consulted BOW's size chart, and I should be good for both the Indigo Weird Guys (Size 34 runs 36" on the waist, and I am a true 36" at this point) and the Sumi Ink (Size 34 runs 35.5"...the stretch should account for the other half inch).

just nabbed a pair of the Indigo x Copper Twist jeans from Barney's - $69 shipped. They had the sumi ink jeans 60% off as well @ $89 but I decided I don't need another pair of dark jeans as i've already got the 3sixteen's and USDG's.

Bwahaha......so did I. the thing that sucks about the Barney's site, and maybe it's something that works to our advantage, is that they don't specify what kind of selvedge denim you're buying in the product title. It'll simply have a generic description like "Naked and Famous black denim." The Indigo Copper selvedge jeans actually specify the copper weft in the description, but I don't recall seeing a description for the black sumi ink selvedge jeans. I only knew they were the Sumi Inks because of the grey weft and the glossy N&F patch on the back. Either way, for $69 i'm not going to complain. If the Indigo Copper twist ends up looking stupid in person then I see it as an easy sell.

But it's definitely the copper and the sumi on there. Already nabbed the Sumi at $69 from Nordstroms. I've seen the copper in person and I think they look pretty sweet. Definitely not "shiny." Just a very cool light brown hue buried under the blue.

BOW's product description gave the impression that the indigo copper's were in fact shiny. I don't want to be the guy you can see reflecting light from a mile away because of the copper weave in the jeans.

I'll keep you in mind if I end up not liking them Yeah I looked when I saw your post this morning. I'm debating giving the 31 a shot anyway since (if they hit spec) they should be right around a "small-side" Gustin 33. I think the taper is a bit too aggressive (though it's really not that aggressive) for me to size down, though.

The Indigo Copper is $110 but you get free shipping and free hemming, so I think it's still a good deal. Even though I paid $69 for mine I would still have to send them off to get hemmed which will run me another $30.
