not sure what the consensus here on these is but i've dipped my toes into the waters. i walk about 2mi to/from work (on days that it's too hot to bike - a fixie in the DC summer isn't pleasant) and have been curious about the fashion application of the bandana but now have a reason to justify the utility of it as well. i found a couple of good sources with a wide variety and wanted to share in case anyone else rocks the bandana or has been thinking about it: KirikoPortland made and so much more than bandanas...hats, ties, scarves. So much indigo and unique fabrics - not to mention denim with printed weft that is affordable. There are lots of applications of sashiko too. Kapital from CONTEXTLegendary denim maker from Japan released a new collection of bandanas.

Thanks for the links. Been thinking of looking into getting a couple nicer bandanas as well.

Bandanas/scarves are very handy when outside exposed to the sun. I have a merino wool bandana from Icebreaker. They don't seem to have any in stock but I recommend them. Has many uses.

Man I like bandanas but I'll stick with the $1 walmart specials. Paying some of those prices for a bandana is nutty. They are sweat and snot rags.

the patterned RT bandanas are nice looking, but, i'm not a bandana guy so they're an easy pass for me. I think i've come across too many pictures of dudes in selvedge jeans with bandanas poking out of their back pockets that it turned me off completely

I edc a handkerchief (bandana or plain white) but they are at they're best when washed to a point of almost falling apart. So 35 bucks puts them into another category. Maybe an accessory. RRL produce some nice ones, similarly priced.
Side Note: In the 70's the crowd I ran with would often wear a bandana sticking out from the back pocket. That stopped when it started to be used as a "sign" of a sexual nature. This has probably changed but mine are fully tucked in.

I was hesitant as well but pulled the trigger when I saw this at Orn Hansen in Portland about a month ago. It's from kiriko. I wear in in my back pocket just barely peeking out. I like the way it looks, personally and I do actually use it.

I thought for a second that the title of this thread was "bananas." If I had created it I'd go back and change it.

Bananas are also a great accessory but I keep that in my front pocket for special-effects.

Ran across this bandana the other day... never heard of Crawford Denim before, but they could be legit. And, at $6 ($11 shipped to me in GA) you can't really beat it for its pretty nice design, solid color, and very novel idea... <edit> sorry for the small/poor pic - straight from their site
