I didn't buy anything and don't have a horse in this race, but man, but the way G runs the stock store access/non access and THEN they pick and choose who gets to order how many pairs feels like watching popular girls in HS decide who gets to sit and their table. I'm not in the slightest bit mad or even slightly irritated, more like "did that just happen?" lol. Kind of at a loss as to what they're thinking on this one Maybe they should get a big dude with an earpiece and a velvet rope Yeah, it is strange. Also how they dole out various gifts and free items from time to time...some people make out pretty well and others come up dry. Of course if it weren't for this place none of us would know what anyone else was or was not getting.

It sort of looks like they had a promotion planned for today, and the beans were spilled killing their plan, so they went into damage control mode. I'm not sure why they don't impose limits on the grab bags up front. Seeing people go for three or four kind of goes against the premise, in my view.
Regarding access, however, I agree that some rhyme or reason to it would be great. I also think they should have some sort of loyalty program since they like to be generous with stuff, but it's usually only to people that ask for free stuff.
Meh, whatever.

I just saw the grab bag after they sent out an email this morning, and I squeaked in for the last pair of 32 straights. It just seemed like too good of a deal to pass up. Looks like everything is gone now.
I'm usually a Gustin 32, so we'll see how the sizing works out. In a week or so I might be posting here pleading with someone to swap me their 33s. Oh well, they were cheap enough to make the risk worth it. And, like others have said, worst case you can always drop them on eBay and easily get your money back.

"Issues" is kinda vague, could be messed up fabric, stitching, or even messed up sizing??? I'm not sure how they reconcile the "may have issues" statement with their statement in the other denim grab bag that "we do not sell seconds." I guess we'll all get to see what the "issues" are for ourselves.

I got stock store access early this morning and got a 32 straight, hoping it sewed up a little small. Pretty hard to pass up on a $85 pair of 23/26 oz jeans. I'm not sure why shipping was $15 on these, but I'm not going to complain with the overall value.

I wouldn't say false sense of value. If they work for you, they're a crazy value at a third of the original price. If they don't, measure them up and sell them to someone who they would work for to turn a profit. And I really doubt Gustin would sell these if they were falling apart. The value loss in their name brand would outweigh any small profit they may make from this grab bag.

It cost me $60 to ship to Canada but it's still a good deal based on what the original price was. I sent Stephen an an email suggesting that I surely hope the buttons aren't sewed to the pant legs.

Kind of understand if it's being shipped overseas like Aussieland or Englishland, but to Canadia that seems steep.

$85 including shipping is better. I think there's a cheaper shipping option though.
I've just been questioning the G model/attitude again lately, but thats for a different thread.

Oh believe me I completely understand. From a customer's standpoint, there's gotta be a cheaper and better way. Gustin ships out thousands of orders a month, I'm sure they could pull bulk shipping discounts, and pass the savings onto the customers. But combined shipping will probably never be a part of Gustin's business model. And I don't think, from G's perspective, they feel a need to change the model quite yet, because separate shipping per item hasn't stopped customers from selling out pretty much all their offerings.

Yeah. Agreed. Not many businesses change processes just because it'd be better for the customer. If there is no $$$ motivation, why do it? That said, you could cram 8 t shirts into a $5 flat rate, but instead I'm paying $20 for shipping. It's silly.

I thought so too and told him that. It costs less from Japan and arrives more quickly. I think it goes into the profit line for Gustin because it doesn't cost that much to ship.

These kind of insane shipping prices to Canada is what prevents me from ordering at times. With that exorbitant cost, G seems a lot less lucrative.

Yeah, $15 shipping is too high. The heavyweights easily fit in a USPS medium flat rate box for $12.65 and that's without any volume discounts for business shipping. And I got 23 oz IH shipped from Japan for less. I shipped a pair of 18 oz jeans to Australia once for $23. On the other hand, a guy shipped me a pair of jean from Norway and it cost him $47.
Also, what I like about these kind of complaints: it shows this forum is value oriented.

I've ordered two truckers and a chore coat, and the first trucker I received it came in a flat rate box. But the second trucker and chore coat both came bagged up the same bags that they bagged up denim in, but they kept the shipping price at $15. But I'm still a sucker for their stuff, so it's only an annoyance.

We all keep buying, so I guess the shipping isn't that big of a concern for us.

I never have understood the logistics of the G shipping system.
Not being able to combine items has kept me away from all leather goods. $20 simple wallet and pay 1/4th the price to ship. No way. Combine shipping with a pair of jeans and a wallet and no brainer I would have picked up one.

Yup, and they've been assholes every time I've asked about it. What did they tell you? I've sort of always assumed they ship direct from production facilities, which means separate orders probably aren't going to be in the one place for consolidated shipping.
