For some reason, even though I know I would never wear them, I really like those basket weave cap-toe brogues (in brown) they have on the large graphic, main page. |

For some reason, even though I know I would never wear them, I really like those basket weave cap-toe brogues (in brown) they have on the large graphic, main page. those are a bit too fashion forward for my tastes, but they do seem oddly tempting. But even the Strands were a step up from what I used to wear (square toe shoes, oh the humanity), and were what I used to consider too fashionable for me, but now they seem rather boring, so my tastes may change again. |

Strands are timeless. If you wear a suit or at least wool pants to work, buy a pair of Strands and they'll outlast you. Get em' in shell if you want them to outlast a few generations. I've got plenty of AE shoes, but I'm waiting for some with Dainite soles to go on sale. |

I'm think shell black Park Aves, shell brown burnished Strands, maybe a pair of shell Dundees, and keep my bourbon Moras and burgundy McAllisters. |

I'd pass on black shells, they're too shiny. I like the look on brown or burgundy, but it's too close to patent on black shoes which just looks cheap to me. You can always migrate your McA's to Aldens too.  |

Retail pricing on AE Shell vs Alden Shell isn't that bad, but of course no one pays retail for AE. |

I recently got a bonus and bought walnut strands. Finest clothing I own, and I feel awesome(r) when I wear them.
It's amazing how comfortable they are.
