Guys, just a heads up that the 16.5 oz indigo / indigo duck "Loombreakers" will be released on Friday. First choice goes to anyone who signed up for the "presale," in order they completed the form. No guarantee that they'll be available for public sale. I'm not too familiar with how quickly they sell special items, but filled out the form last month and hopefully get a shot. I'll keep yous posted. www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=6472.0

Great gif showing the evo of a pair of this fabric. This would be a good way to show someone who doesn't understand what denim fades are all about.

Update! The Loombreakers went on sale this morning to anyone who filled out the "preorder" form. I was able to get a pair of the 634-LB cut. Once they allow all preorders a chance to buy, any remaining pairs will go live.
As of now, sizes 29-34 and 38-40 are available in the 634-LB cut and sizes 29-38 are available in the 666-LB. Impressively, they only manufactured 70 total pairs between the two cuts, due to the loom ... breaking (clever name!) when trying to weave these monsters.
EDIT: Per the IHUK forum, any remaining stock will go on sale tomorrow morning. Keep your eyes peeled if you want to grab a pair!

No doubt they are impressive. I'm afraid to ask how much! I'm waiting for the non selvedge version to hit rakuten.

No doubt they are impressive. I'm afraid to ask how much! I'm waiting for the non selvedge version to hit rakuten. I don't know that the non-selvedge version will have the same fabric. Here's what Giles had to say on the IHUK forum: "We are using the remaining indigo yarns to make a projectile loom woven version of the fabric, it'll be similar, but will not have a selvedge ID." There was also some mention of an 816 cut and a jacket in the forums. To be honest, I don't know the structural differences between this fabric and their standard duck.

I love the 17oz 816 duck. Not sure why these broke the loom and the 17oz didn't.

That's been my question. 18oz is a normal thing for Ciano Farmer, too, so there are clearly places out there making heavy duck. I don't know if I've seen heavy selvedge duck, and it doesn't look like the 816 is selvedge. The older selvedge looms maybe just can't handle the plain weave at that weight?

816 = no selvedge, projectile loom Loombreaker = selvedge, shuttle loom
This place has desensitized me. 360 doesn't sound bad for only 70 being made.

I agree, for this being a one shot deal and the look of the finished product the price isn't outrageous. Damn you though, now I'm going to spend time this weekend researching shuttle and projectile looms

Damn you though, now I'm going to spend time this weekend researching shuttle and projectile looms If I could afford it right now I would have gone in, but I can't. If it's something you can afford right now, it'd be silly not to pick them up. Thankfully the 666 in my size are already gone, so I don't have to try to figure it out anymore. If you're into the 634 fit, though, looks like most sizes are still available. This is a situation where the traditional model just doesn't make sense though. It's where you look at the 29" that sit there for a year with no interest, nobody buying, yet they continue making them. With a Gustin model, they make what they know the people that want them will be able to wear.

If anyone is interested in these, I think that's a good deal, and might be your best chance to get the Loombreakers. I just got my 634-LB and they might be the favorite in my stable right now. Beautiful color, great construction, and stiff as hell (they stand up on their own at 16.5 oz). I like that they'll live a varied life - right now they have a sheen and slightly dressy look, but will break in nicely. The GIF earlier in this thread is a good rendition of their likely evolution. I'll post some pics of my own pair this weekend.

They have an 12 oz IxI Cone Mills, but in limited sizes. Ciano is another option with more color varieties, but I don't know if they have anything in IxI. Just think how long the IH will last and how great they'll wear ...

Selvedge indigo duck isn't something that comes around a lot.
