I do love how this Flat Head 7002 western shirt looks worn in. I just don't like the double V pocket flap. I like the traditional V shape.

A beautiful shirt. Sawtooth & shovel pockets are fine by me...curious how Japanese, Europeans, Brits & others dig western styling but (it seems) many Americans aren't keen. The Flat Head, an iconic brand. I sometimes wonder, in truth, if there's a large slice of reverse snobbery at G Community - whether some folks feel that more expensive gear is for wankers (?) lol. I don't mean to be rude or provocative. If I was an American, I'm sure that I'd want to give max support to US Made...but I'd still be interested in seeing what the other guys (Asia & Europe)were doing. FH seem even more fitted than IH - I'm unable to wear most of them. Ace stuff. Hope we see & hear more of members' accounts re. this legendary brand. Thanks for posting thread, Winterland!

I just picked this one up via mail order. Japanese sizing, shrinkage etc had me ordering an XL based on the shoulders. According to the size charts it -should- be ok. I really like this shirt so I hope it fits. I'll post up when it arrives from it's long Japan to US journey. Always loved The Flat Head but I'm right on the edge of being to large for their shirts.

Hey guys, my 7001 Western Shirt came in about a week ago and it's flipping wonderful. Here are some detail shots and fit pics. I was having a hard time deciding between XL (42)and XXL (44) but in the end I went XL. This thing will only see cold soaks and here in Southern California it will be a "shirtjac" and worn open more than a full buttoned up shirt most of the time. The quality of this thing is amazing. Stitches are straight and consistent. Note the bar tacks on the runoff near the gussets and the general consistency everywhere. I love this shirt. On price, I picked this up online and it was a bit more than a G work shirt but much less than if I'd picked it up in a retail shop that deals in TFH here in the states. All socio/political/economic opinions aside about supporting US importer/retailers vs Rakuten, this thing is well worth the money it costs and is a lifetime shirt. imgur.com/a/pSAR3

Yeah, excellent fit stevekas! That's classy as hell. FYI if anybody is looking for measurements on that shirt, I discovered just now that Rivet and Hide in the UK uses that exact shirt in their store's fit guide.

The fit on that shirt is nails. Not sure about the pointy collar and slant pockets, though.

Thanks for the comments, all. David, good eye my friend. The are indeed PBJ xx 012's. I picked them up on a preorder/fade contest group buy last summer and they arrived mid October. They are standard xx 012s except for the leaf being green and a special patch on the contest edition (and the price was signifigantly lower than US retail). I'm a rampant bargain hunter, I like nice stuff but I'm always on the lookout for a better deal. I've got about three weeks in them and I've got to say, they are destined for beautiful fades. They are indigoxindigo, 14oz pre shrunk and slubby to the point of distraction. They are also unsanforized so the fit is evolving into a layer of custom denim armor after a scary initial soak that almost made me a soprano. Some of the contest participants have already got ridiculously beautiful fades setting in so I'm just kind of playing along. I can't compete with a 19 year old who skates 10 hours a day in his jeans, can't compete in skating OR fading I'll likely post up something here in the near future about PBJ just to get a thread started, unless there is already a PBJ thread and I missed it.

This shirt is painful -- but you can see that the "Western Shoulder Flaps" line up exactly from one side to the other, which I thought was kind of cool. Check out those snaps, though. Wonder where they get them. in case you would like to see the whole thing.

I do love how this Flat Head 7002 western shirt looks worn in. I just don't like the double V pocket flap. I like the traditional V shape. I picked up this shirt The Flat Head 7002W for a nice deal. It is like new and the measurements looked perfect for me. I was trying to get an Iron Heart 33 shirt but this was next on my list. Will post up pics soon. Only had a chance to try it on quick. The 7002w is a classic piece in The Flat Head collection. It is based on 1950s vintage shirts and is made from a 12 oz. denim that has the same rich, deep-dyed color and uneven texture as Flat Head's jeans. The shirt is sewn with vintage Union Special machines, and the hem and other parts of the shirt will show a roping fade over time. The hardware includes real mother-of-pearl buttons with Universal snaps. The shirt is a slim, modern cut with a slight taper, and has been rinsed to get rid of shrinkage. It will stretch out by 1" in the chest. It features selvage accents at hem's side gussets, and inside the front placket. -100% cotton 12. oz selvedge denim -Rinsed once -Rope-dyed -Slim/modern fit -Mother-of-pearl Universal snaps -Selvedge side gussets -Selvedge placket -Crafted in Japan

Winterland congrats! Awesome shirt. I am up to my ears in denim shirts but that one is a sweet pickup. What size did you go with?

Winterland congrats! Awesome shirt. I am up to my ears in denim shirts but that one is a sweet pickup. What size did you go with? It is a labeled size 40. It was washed once and did have some shrinkage as a 40 would usually be too big. Will post measurements later.

If it was 1.5" shorter it would be perfect for me. I don't like length too long for untucked shirts. I can actually live with this length though as it is not bad. It is a slim fit as that is what I like. Pit to pit 38 Front 23.5 shoulder 18 Arm 25.25 Back 27.5 Waist 37

That means it actually does shrink since your is 1.5" smaller in the chest then a new one.

Seems to me these shirts are wide in the shoulders and narrow in the chest?

Yes a lot of the denim shirts do get shrinkage. I know Iron Heart lists right on their sizing that they will shrink. They are made bigger and they shrink to size. On the Self Edge site they list will not shrink. Seems like that could be wrong.

Seems to me these shirts are wide in the shoulders and narrow in the chest? I like the sizing on the Flat Head as the shoulder to waist measurements work great for me. Have mentioned my iron heart shirts seem small in the shoulders. They work as the arms are long enough but the shoulder seam is about an inch in from the shoulder. My Lawless shirts fit in with the bigger shoulder sizing also. The Flat Head chest is about the smallest I could go though. It does seem to work well still as the fabric is fairly soft and flexible. The fabric really does have a different feel than any of my other denim. Will be interesting to see how it wears. It really is a nice shirt real mother of pearl buttons are cool. The snap closure style is more like a lawless shirts than iron hearts snaps I'm getting use to the Sawtooth pockets. 3 snap sleeve is cool also.
