We thought we have established ourselves enough separate from the Gustin community forum. We wanted to give Gustin their props for helping many of us meet there in the first place. Now we are getting members from all over, many who haven't used their forum ever. Nothing negative for G, just a progression for out little forum. We want to be brand neutral. Meaning we want any brand that our members want to be discussed and fits in our overall scheme of things, to be welcome. We especially like when a representative comes on and gives us info etc. about the goods.
At the same time we do not want to be known giving a preference to any brand over another. Members may like or dislike certain brands but as a forum that will not be the case.

The continuing rapid progressive developments at this forum are impressive to the max! My great thanks to you 3 guys for all your hard work & generous contributions of your outstanding individual & collective talents to make 'Selvedge and Style Forum' (great name!!!) a highly functional and hip (in the very best sense) place for our community members & visitors.

Excellent idea changing the name of this Board! I am wondering if you plan on changing the web address so that you might drive more traffic to this site?

Was wondering when that was going to come about.

It's not a simple change, so if it happens, we'll post up well in advance so people can make adjustments.

i know it's possible this could wreck the color scheme (or maybe just introduce a complementary color) but would it make sense to re-examine the link color? when embedding a link in a line of text it doesn't jump out as a link right away as the contrast isn't far from the text color.

Any thoughts on where a discussion of tailoring/repair should go? I'm looking to perfect some fits on a few items and would like to hear how everybody approaches this. If I start the thread I'd edit the top post to maintain a list of places used successfully by members.

I would say Retail Merchants-Online Retailers gustinfriends.proboards.com/board/11/retail-merchants-online-retailersIf you make a thread and make a list I will make it a sticky that stays at the top.

cool, thanks! it works really well on the first page but when it's inline, it kind of gets lost. you could always tell me to go screw myself and just bold my links.

Just started the thread and added a name (local to me) to the list for chain stitch hemming.

We have a great member ship here. First things first.
But what are the growth numbers. For traffic and new members?
I know the name is gustinfriends (IMHO should be denim friends) but we really have branched out to other new denim brands and leather goods...and well all casual clothing/fashion.
I would love to see the forum keep growing. New brands etc.

258 Members. Name change again, is not a simple thing. If/when it can be done transparently, it will happen at some point. I haven't pimped the forum anywhere, but at some point, if that happens, we'll see more folks come in. Feel free to do that if you like the place.
We are also looking at possibly offering up allowing attachments to be uploaded, but there is a cost, and the admins have agreed that if we go this route, we'll cover the costs and see how it goes. Any ideas are always welcomed. Nobody has a lot of time to devote to babysitting the place, so it's been nice that there have been minimal need to do so. Everyone is policing themselves well and there's a lot of useful and fun stuff here.
Anyone here can feel free to reach out to new vendors and invite them in. Obviously, there are lots of related interests and lots of new KS campaigns as well as other small businesses - some of which are guys here. All are welcomed.

I just want to say that this place is a silverlining to my day. I never believed this would take off bc I have seen hundreds of these "lets create our own forum"-things fail through the years.
This is a winner, and surely having first of all the great mods (stroking the hair of the bosses the right way is allowed y´all) but also LD and Ciano here is a great and somewhat unusual thing. Together with the knowledge/experience of the members its a slam-dunk! And you almost dont have to be a freak to enjoy it since you can see a shirt posted and go and get the same one without getting poor.
Take a good look at the men and women that stand next to you. Remember their faces, for one day you will tell your children and your grandchildren that you served with such men and women as the universe has never seen. And together, you'll accomplish the feat that will be told and retold down through the ages, and find immortality as only the gods once knew. I'm proud to serve with you. Good hunting.

We are also looking at possibly offering up allowing attachments to be uploaded, but there is a cost, and the admins have agreed that if we go this route, we'll cover the costs and see how it goes. Maybe vendors who enjoy exposure through their own sub-forums here could donate a new/exclusive - or otherwise more interesting or valuable - pair of jeans or jacket that could be auctioned to the highest bidder of the forum members... with the proceeds going towards the cost of hosting and disk space. More exposure for vendors, some fun for those who are interested in the items and the forum might almost become self-funding.

I do have to say that this has really turned out to be a great place to come to share, and receive great info. I really had a hunch this place would turn out awesome, as it was a good bunch of guys that stuck out from the old G forum, and start something special.

We'd love to have some giveaways. I reckon that many of our fave vendors are in growing pains mode and we are open to anything they might want to try here. I love the idea, but it's always hard to figure out how/who to give things to. Any ideas on giveaways are welcomed. It should be fair, transparent, and mostly, fun! Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm really happy with the way things have gone here.

Here is a screenshot of our forum usage below since we started Sept 26. Whoops I started the graph at Nov 26 a month off will update later. We keep growing and the site gets quite a few hits depending on the day. We average about 5000 a day but that doesn't mean 5000 people as every time a different page is viewed etc. it counts as a view. Here is the last amount of members and guests on in the last 24 hours. 90 Members, 596 Guests As you can see we get quite a few guests. Some of the guests are internet automated crawlers from search engines etc. Guests feel free to join and do some posting when you feel the urge. The more the merrier. When you are on the Home page and not on the Mobile site you can see our number of members in the News area. We try to update it often. If you go here you can see it leads to us www.selvedgestyle.comEventually the current address name will get totally changed and there will be a period where the old link will still work as we transition to the new forum name/address, so no worries about losing us. We will post up our first poll soon to see what everyone thinks about how we should handle that we are running out of space for using attachments. It is disabled now. As Old26 pointed out we would have to pay for more space. Will post details in poll. Members now have to use a third party picture hosting or the new built in pic hosting option Add Image to Post that uses a third party hosting. Clicking the picture takes you to the third party site to actually view the bigger picture. As always we are open to suggestions. It is your forum.

We tried a few options to help links standout. Different colors, bold, etc. Right now we have them underlined which seemed to work best. Let us know if you like it or if it causes any problems. www.selvedgestyle.comThe Mods.

Is the signature edit feature broken? I can't get it to work in 2 browsers.
Profile -> Edit Profile -> Personal -> Signature (toward the bottom). Right??
There is only an option to add a smiley and even that isn't working for me.
Thanks for the help!!

I could be wrong I will check into it.
