Anyone else think this might mean we're going to see a fade contest with cash prizes?

You mean everyone should just buy one jeans and keep wearing that one. Sadly, most of people here will lose.

hah...i was thinking something along those lines after posting it...that hosting such a contest could potentially cause customers to stay away from new offerings while trying to fade what they have. someone mentioned a possible buy-back program, which may also be the case. either way, interested in seeing what they have in store.

Was this your picture Old26? If it isn't I would say it was inspired by you at the least.

Seems to me Gustin needs some street cred. A fade contest will give the fades needed. I don't think Gustin will make it to any fade Friday type sites. So they may as well start making there own.

So it's HAs or American Sixteeners. Great options for a fade contest - answers the question of what pair they will ask us to back for the contest. It will be interesting to see the results. I may try the non-soak route for some of my other new denim. Fun contest!
Do we think there will be bonus points for crotch blow-outs?

really surprised they didn't go with a one-off run of a new material. seems like the perfect way to get a ton of sales and quell any of the fairness issues people may have. introducing a new fairness thought - seems really unfair to those who live in TX, FL or SoCal.

Do you mean it's unfair to wear heavier denim in heat? I had to acclimate to PHX but it's feeling just about right for my Sixteeners.

Yeah, seems like if they'd gone with a 14, that might be kinder to those folks in warmer climates.

Damn, I've been wearing Super Heavy 18+ in temps into the high 90ºs here all sunmmer. 16oz is not heavy, IMHO.

Such a bland choice. Really missed the boat to come out with something really cool (and maybe even limited)

It took a little acclimating to PHX, but now I'm good with the 16ers, but I don't know anything heavier. I know, gasp! Hence why I've got the 18.5's coming and may pickup a 17 oz. pair with my "gift".

A bland denim choice for a bland brand. Really missed the boat to come out with something really cool (and maybe even limited) Disagree with your assessment of "boring" unless your name is Prince. However, it does not seem to be working very well - numbers have barely budged on both...

The very way Gustin works lends itself to awesome fade contests is all I mean. Both are great fabrics... just seems kind of against the whole idea of Gustin to not have something awesome.

Trust me, a CarbonXCoffee in a 16+ would have put me in - if only for the denim. But it is what it is, and G-Unit plays it pretty conservative, so it's not a surprise to me...

So hey, is anyone still planning on this? Anyone gonna divulge strategies? I'm in for the American Sixteeners, and after the black x coal, I'm realizing 16 ounces isn't a slouch, even though you guys have built up callouses and won't go under 18 anymore or something. The question is how you wear the same pair of indigo denim every day for a year and maintain a career, friends, and family? I guess I'll just have to Mr Rogers it and switch into them when I get home from work, shower in them in the morning and hang them while I'm at work.
As far as the contest:
It would be really cool if Gustin would announce the rules and everything (especially if they've changed to allow existing orders prior to the campaign announcement, since they've done about 5 million runs of the heavy american the last few months which is kind of annoying since I have a pair of HA I've worn about 4 times since I got them over a year ago). I don't think it's supposed to start until January, so they have time, but ... I guess as with all things Gustin, one must be patient.
If I'm honest, though, I would have preferred that they allow the Japan Royal Indigo, cause I can already see changes in those (f@#% you cone blue x black, no way those are normal indigo dye) after maybe 10 wears, and I can't wait to get them to a six-month soak. Would have been super cool if they could have done something like JRI vs. those indigo x persimmon or antique weft, some of the more exciting offerings they've had the last few months, but I think this was beaten to death on this thread prior to this post. I think they teased Carbon x Coffee ages ago and they have yet to happen.
