So gentlemen, need your opinion. My Gustin CPO arrived today. Admittedly, I was ambivalent about it when I ordered (mostly due to the pockets), but decided to take a shot. I can't say I'm overly excited about it, so I think I've already answered my own question. But thought I throw it out there. Album here: (although I probably shouldn't have had my hands in my pockets, makes the sleeves look long - they're actually a good length when my arms are hanging naturally). imgur.com/a/PgfNSAs others have mentioned, the collar doesn't want to sit down (but maybe that would relax after a wash). Fabric is actually quite nice (although thinner than anticipated). And no complaints about construction - everything looks put together solidly. So what do you say?

I wonder if I could remove the lower front pocket without leaving a trace behind. I asked my wife what she thought. Her only comment was she didn't care at all for the "extra pocket" - meaning the lower right one.

Not a big fan of the asymmetrical pocket heights. Even if you remove the lower pocket, the top two don't look like their on the same level.

Pockets are a f!@king mess, though, and I don't need to revisit my opinion on the bottom button in detail. Sell it.

I definitely think you've answered your own question, fella. I can't stand the 3rd pocket, either. It's like a third nipple or something (second mention of nipples in the forum today!). Just looks weird. And as someone pointed out, are the top pockets at different heights? Or is it an optical illusion?
On the plus side, the cut and fit actually looks decent for ya. I just can't get past the pockets. Sell.

Surprisingly (at least to me), the fit looks fine to you. Not sure about the fabric and it looks too soft for a cpo jacket. Cannot tell for sure but the pockets don't look aligned either left/right or height. If it is me, I will not keep it.

Similarly, the two stacked pockets are aligned along the inner vertical, so that the lower pocket extends further to the outside than the upper.

the pockets are in the wrong places on the Gustin putting all the focus on the frumpy waist.

The EG version looks to have the chest pockets aligned at the top, and possibly aligned with the arm pocket as well. That's an improvement visually over Gustin's version, but the EG one still looks dopey as f!@k to me too. If you drew a line between the flaps of the two top chest pockets on the Gustin CPO, would it be parallel to the alignment of the plaid on Vincent's Blue Rust Flannel? Maybe that's their angle with the Apocketalypse design.

I feel the G pockets starts too low, also the arm one. Most ones seems too long aswell.
@wils I like that brown one alot. Earthy tones is a love from the griffy.

Man I can't stand it. The pockets kill it for me.

the pockets on the EG aren't top aligned either but the difference is that they have some heft/weight to them and you see them as pockets vs. whatever the hell they look like on the unstructured, thin as paper G shirt.
also, to chime in on the earlier TS CPO talk–I'm not a fan of the TS one. the cut is very boxy and not flattering at all on me. in comparison, the Apolis one is a great fit that doesn't draw too much attention to the tit flaps and appears fitted while allowing room for a heavy shirt underneath. if you come across one at a price you like, i encourage you to give it a shot.

Am contemplating this for a cool to coldish option. I want to like the city coat, but I'm tall and dont like that it just looks too short. Any thoughts on the new CPO design? I like the idea of the Pendelton wool at 14oz. www.weargustin.com/store/2355

I like the idea of the Pendelton wool at 14oz. www.weargustin.com/store/2355I really like the multi-color wool, the funny thing is that that one is the only color where I end up agreeing with others that the arm pocket is out of place. I like that they've switched to lining it with the chambray from the chinos, but I think that shirt-colored gussets should be disallowed from over-shirts and jackets, as it just ends up looking like you're sloppy rather than stylish. If you take out the gussets, though, you'll need to have a tailor shorten it cause it'll look too long, and then you might as well have just bought a CPO from Apolis. I don't hate it, but as much as I like the fabric I couldn't justify buying one.

Sweet resurrection!
I just grabbed a grey wool CPO from the stock store for only $74... $85 including shipping. Well worth it, to me. Aside from the sleeve pocket, it looks pretty much exactly like my 1980's OD green Army field shirt, big pockets, big collar and all. It was a toss up between this and a workshirt... I chose to be cheap.

I sized up on the CPO I ordered, and it was a mistake..... I have always been a Medium in Gustin shirts (Classic and Work), so I thought a Large would be perfect for layering..... WRONG. This is the BIGGEST garment I've ever purchased. I'm going to hot soak it a 75C and hot dry..... Hopefully that will get me some shrink.

Heat will shrink wool beyond belief.
