I wasn't sure where to put this topic so I started one here. Any of you use Otter Wax for anything? I just purchased a small bar to use as an experiment on a canvas man bag I have sitting in my closet. I want to see how well it'll waterproof the bag and how it'll look after applying the wax. I'll post pics after I finish my project. If all goes well I'll have to invest in a bigger bar for my Gustin trucker

I'm also been thinking about waxing my G trucker after seeing one on gustins Instagram. Anybody know if it will cause skrinkage? The pic looks incredible on IG.

I think DigDug has waxed a pointer canvas jacket. should have a similar effect on fabric and shrinkage. maybe he'll chime in here.

I used OtterWax on a Pointer Brand chore jacket. NOT the bar that you rub on and heat up but the kind of OtterWax that you melt and brush on then heat (sorry forgot what they call it). It really penetrates the fabric. It did shrink about 1/2 a size. Came out great but it is very stiff until your body heat warms the jacket up. It also darkens it. But makes for a good hard work jacket. I don't think I'd do it if it was only used as a weekend around the house or out on the town jacket. It does collect dust and "patina's" to look very worn in.

My understanding is that heating is not required with the bar. All you need to do is rub it into the fabric and let it sit for 2-3 days. I can't seem to find my canvas shoulder bag to experiment on so I was considering using it on a Wolverine vest I thrifted. But if there is shrinkage I may want to avoid using it on my vest.

I ordered the large 5oz bar of Otter Wax last week and should get it tomorrow. I have to say that i'm apprehensive about using it on my G trucker, mainly because of some of the reviews i've read on Amazon. I'm afraid of shrinkage but i'm also worried about the smell. Some of the reviews on Amazon stated that it left an odor due to its natural ingredients. The last thing I want to do is funkify my jacket and render it unwearable. I'm also curious if there's a noticeable difference between the bar vs the heat activated version you apply with a brush. Any ideas?

Some of the reviews I read on Amazon stated it left a rancid smell on the garment. I don't know if these customers ordered from a bad batch but it doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.
