Maybe just regular Chelseas? Something weird about a Chelsea shoe.
I was just looking at the Santa Rosas at SOP yesterday. I almost like them, but haven't sold myself on the idea.

But I'm actually looking for an easy to put on casual shoe as I'm tired of lacing up boots or Chuck hi tops all the time. I pretty much default to flip flops but something more presentable would be welcome.
I've debated the wedge Red Wing oxfords, but they look a touch too clown like.

Yes, I can picture your clown shoes reference without going to google images, and I agree. I'm with you that traditional chelsea's don't quite work (visually) for me and an in between boot and shoe option is in my future. SoP's instagram has been indoctrinating me slowly into the Luccese Jonha Roper cult--but I haven't drank the side zip kool-aid yet. Viberg teased about a milkshake suede "slipper" that I want to see photos of. Short shaft pull ups/engineers. My boat shoes/moccasins work well for a non tennis shoe during the summer but... Do we have any other venues for Santa Rosa's shoes besides SoP?

Those dill holes can't even make a website. Makes it hard for me to get excited about their shoes.

Totally different direction, but I like these, just have zero idea of how I'd actually get a pair. Wish I still lived out there. Texans only seem to make yee haw boots. http://instagram.com/p/BCvElH3vHNm

I have a hard time with gussets on shoes and the height of em on chelseas takes em off of my radar--but with pants on the gussets might be taken out the equation

Blending the yee-haw with the rock & roll, while still keeping the girl pacified by not going too far away from the norm business casual look is easier said then done

They look similar to the Truman horse hides, but a little less Doc Martin.

Looks like someone bought the Wesco Packers in Burgundy that I linked before and paired them with IH-633Ns. They look pretty damn good. I really want to like these but the heels are a little too PeeWee Herman to my eyes.

I've got a pair of Thorogood's with a wedge sole, and really like the comfort they provide, and you can get wedges in cream, or dark colors. I'm toying with the idea of getting a pair of White's Bounty Hunters, with a wedge sole.

I really want to like these but the heels are a little too PeeWee Herman to my eyes. Dropping 1 heel lift is fairly common, so you two are not alone. I was in your camp, but they have grown on me; I like having the option to "cowboy up" with the Wescos or go more refined with Viberg's captoe Service boot. I like the fact that Wesco has stayed true to their 99years of tradition--YeeHaw!

I own a pair in Olive and they're pretty narrow. Do they eventually stretch in the width with wears? Size 41 is too narrow but good length, and size 42 is good width but too long.

Thanks @untucked. The 65 upper and the MP toe, do give the boot a great shape and silhouette.
I check their seconds dept periodically for updated stock in my size, but their photos and descriptions are sometimes lacking (didn't specify these were rough outs, for ex and the photos were blurry) which makes the whole buying with confidence thing a non reality--no return policy and no warranty either. But they do have some great deals on some seriously well built boots.

Yeah, best looking pair of Wescos I’ve seen. Well done.
On a side note, are you wearing jeans with actual fades?!

I like Wesco boots. This purely American boot Co, with more than 100 years in the business, has a well-earned reputation for quality and durability, more here bootsgeek.com/wesco-boot-review/
