I think ultimately you need some armor in anything 'motorcycle' though When I was riding a sport bike, I had leather gear, with full protective armour. I would ride much more agressively than I do today, and fortunately never had to test its merits. Now days, I am putting aound on a Touring bike, and my gear is leather, without armour. Its kind of a comfort tradeoff. More better gear for sure makes me ride more aggressively. If I go the more sedate route this year and say get an Indian Scout, I'll not be wearing the Power Rangers™ shit I usually wear. Still a full-faced lid, but certainly more geared towards looks in general than I ever have. If I go back to sport bikes, it's full monty again.

I don't think I could go with anything other than a full-face helmet. They are not the most comfortable on hot days, but during my career, I responded to many bike accidents, and have seen more than one guy with a good portion of his face ground off while wearing a half-lid. Those new scouts are very cool, and later in the year, when the weather is better, I plan on going down to the local dealer and taking one out for a beat.

Growing up on dirt bikes and eating dirt regularly trying to catch my older brothers taught me the value of the full face helmet. I took some serious diggers as a kid and scraped/smashed/cracked the chin guards on a few full face helmets. I'm way too paranoid about sanding my chin off on the road to wear an open face helmet. You can have a rather benign get off and really change your looks if your face is exposed. Not being preachy or anything, I'm a "to each their own guy" when it comes to gear. Still, I get piss shivers when I see guys going 90 and splitting lanes here on the freeway in an open faced gold sparkly retro helmet. I just don't want to see the results of that get off. davelewis, those pants are damn nice. I'm serious. I think I may need to budget for a pair....

I actually saw a guy who left his sport bike, and his face was so messed up, that his nose was completely gone, with two holes left in its place. That right there, made me a totaly believer. I was actually thinking my pants were going to arrive today, as shipping showed them to be in Seattle yesterday evening, and I'm about 30 South. Today when I checked, I was surprised to see that their next stop was in Wenatchee, which is about 150 miles East, over two mountain passes, and you wonder why the US postal service looses $10 billion a year.

Not an order from CF, but I have something coming in from CA and they tried to deliver it in Compton. On Tuesday. I'm on the east coast and it's still in the LA area, too. FedEx to USPS is the devil.

I need to make a confession here..... got these teaser photos today from Ciano.... 18oz brown heavy canvas. I hope he doesn't mind I post these since I do not have his permission. Just too excited and really want to share. Maybe Ciano will post the rest of the photos.

@wils, what is that? A chore coat? The buttons are cool. Take a break from shaving your wabi sabi and tell us about this thing. It looks fantastic.

Dope!
I reached out to Ciano about the 18oz canvas - all of them say "back it" so not sure what it means - I wanted to know if he is waiting on more people to get more fabric or if there was enough for some items already..

@wils that's a great looking jacket. obviously give us an update and some fit pics once you receive it. depending on your feedback i may have to reach out to ciano for something similar. i'd love a solid canvas jacket that looks a bit more put together than my current chore coat.

My only change would be to incorporate slash type pocket openings in addition to the flap patch pockets. It's how my work jacket is set up and I find it perfect.

Oooooh baby, my 12oz duck and 30oz bull canvas pants are out for delivery. The fit has been revised to a 33 slim with an actual 33" waist so hopefully they work this time. Pics/review will be up soon after.

It is not on the website yet but I would email Ciano to ask about it. Personally, I think this style has a lot of potential with fabric other than canvas. Ciano is also making a matching vest but it is not for me.
