I saw this on worn and wound, and really liked the color combination: I found this on etsy. It's a Yellowdog watch strap. Horween, handmade in the UK, for about $40: Thread and hardware are customizable

I've been contemplating getting a strap from heuerville.wordpress.com/heuerville-straps/ for my Speedmaster (blackhawk grey or coal oiled), but they are not cheap ($120). I haven't found anything similar in the States.

Good straps @$120 are worth it IMO. My Toshi's are about that, and I never regretted getting them.

My dream watch is a a smaller sized Rolex Submariner. What do you mean by smaller? The Sub has always been a 40mm case. Unless you're talking some very early examples which are nearly impossible to find and cost upwards of the price of a luxury car if you do find one.

Perhaps you meant the Sea Dweller? The newer (uglier) Deap Sea Dweller is 44mm. I like the earlier one, with date and no magnifier. Probably the only Rolex I'd really like to have. I sold my GMT and haven't missed it at all.

The seadweller is a very cool watch. The Deapsea is awful. When my wife backout 116710BLNR from our AD past summer because she thought it looked too small on her wrist, it had crossed the tipping point that my wife will never support me on any future R purchase including the DeepSea. Btw, my wife is 5'5" and 95lbs. Tiny wrist. Asian women especially the more fashion oriented one love big watches. Hiding back to my little hole on no watch and car talks here.

Yes that would be the one, that's why I said dream watch. I don't have very big wrists so 38mm is about the biggest that I like to wear. Here is one I like. For some reason I was thinking Tudor made a smaller one that is more reasonable.

Oh yeah, reference 5508 or 5510. Those are sick and BIG money. The collectors market on old subs as continued to spiral upwards. These are are also just flat out old and scarce these days. Tudor also made a version, but those are big collectors items now also. I had a chance to buy one for <$1000 back in 2000. I wish I did! I haven't looked recently but they are probably $5k+ at this point. That is known as a rose dial or c. 390 Tudor sub. The current Tudor Black Bay is very nice. But it's a full size 41mm case.

PS - I know WAY to much about vintage watches. It was a big hobby of mine from about 1998-2005. I largely gave it up, but held on to a few watches. I'm almost amazed at how much of the knowledge is still in my brain. I still love talking about watches. The last watch I bought was in 2007 when a buddy of mine was looking for a nice watch. He got me thinking about watches again and before I knew I had purchased another watch. It's bad, bad, bad!!!

I did the old Tudors with the California dials. I know that most of them on the market are bodges, but they still look cool.

No, but I'm still going to ask my wife for a Tudor for our 10th anniversary. I'm debating about asking my family to chip in toward this for my 50th bday I dig it, but I'd like it even better without the tachymeter. I get that it's a classic racing thing, but it's definitely not for me.

No, but I'm still going to ask my wife for a Tudor for our 10th anniversary. I'm debating about asking my family to chip in toward this for my 50th bday I used to have an AD (a while back) who gave me good discount on Omaga. If you are really going for it, I can send you his contact information. Btw, I like PO 8500 in 45.

@wils Thanks. It is a few years off (> 5) so we'll see what happens between now and then. I'd imagine they'd have to get it on the secondary market, at hopefully about half of what it is selling for now.

It was a while back but they were not from secondary market and came with full Omaga warranty in US.

@wils no, i'm thinking it will no longer be in production so they would have to get it used off of watchuseek or the Omega forum. Or they might find it at Govberg. I don't know how long Omega keeps something like that in production. It'd be cool to find a NOS one from a dealer, but I'm guessing not likely.

It's not an Omaga or a Rolex but its what works best for me. Hamilton Khaki, Hand wind. Simple and interactive.
