Working on the fadez! lol I probably should have put on some snow pants to go shovel. But the beasts worked almost as well. I hope it's warmer where ever you brahs are. My hands still hurt from running the snowblower. Stupid snow.

How about just sliding and rolling down the hill without skiis or snowboard? Isn't that just the Norwegian version of the coral beach wash?

Thinking of giving up on the BEAST I've got 100 or so wears in them, 2 soaks 1 wash. Life seems to short to spend them in jeans that are just not forgiving. What I mean is - at some point I don't want to be thinking about what I'm wearing. But every time I bend, sit, squat, etc the BEAST fight back. Any one of you get these things to soften up? I put on my Zim's,Ok's,Loomies and I look forward to it. The BEAST is a chore.

I don't think mine have given much but the fades emerging keep me motivated.
I know what you mean though. I always know I have the beasts on. Unlike my loomies that were perfectly comfortable right away.

Has anyone gotten them to soften up? I figure I've got to wear them for 4 years to get my money out of them. I'll wear them for 6 months a year that'll be about 100+ wears x 4 years = 400 wears at $200. That'll be 50 cents a wear.

I wear mine a lot, and I think they a fantastic pair of heavy denim. I notice the weight a bit more if I've worn a pair of 12oz canvas duck pants for a couple of days, and then switch back to the beasts. Of my pairs of Gustin jeans, they are the snuggest pair, and in retrospect, could have sized up one, but trying to play that game is a crap shoot. If they hadn't sewn them up small, by not adjusting the patterns appropriately, they would be better.
Ciano at some point is trying to get hold of some 24oz, in which I'll most likely try a pair of those in their 905 fit, which I find a better overall fit for me than Gustins straight fit.

I'm seriously considering soaking them with fabric softener.... Any thoughts? I can't see how that would help. It's like putting lipstick on a pig....or fabric softener on your carpet.

But using Iron Heart prices for their 25 oz denim, so i figure $1 per wear.

Lately, I've been thinking there is more than weight that factors into how a denim will feel and break in over time. For example, the quality of the cotton is extremely important; extra long staple cotton will feel very different from short staple lower grade cotton of the same weight.

I've wondered if the BEAST fabric was an experiment by a mill. It seems to me in this weight class it would be spoken for or no one wanted it. I'd still like to try some 20oz + denim made with some established denim.

19oz + Sammy and Iron heart both have it.
Has anyone seen the 26oz beast fabric anywhere else?

19oz + Sammy and Iron heart both have it. Has anyone seen the 26oz beast fabric anywhere else? No, not that I've actively looked. But you would think someone would have stumbled across it. And Gustin hasn't offered it again. Which makes me think it was/is a one off. Which may be the biggest reason I'll keep putting time in them. I would love for the BEAST and one of use to get some street cred!

I do agree that they are unique, and would be my last to give up.

I just noticed the Gustin community forums are gone. Including our thread about the beast fade contest. Does that mean the contest is gone? Is everyone from that thread here on this community?

Is everyone from that thread here on this community? i think the fade thread there was an unofficial 'community started' contest. i hadn't seen any official word from gustin about their fade contest sine the week of the promotion. i know others were wondering what had happened to that contest as well...rules, progress, etc. i'd be surprised if it actually comes together and they award someone the prize money...seems like there would be a lot of disgruntled customers...especially from those that bought jeans from that campaign before they said people with older pairs could participate.

I was speaking of the unofficial community fade contest that was for 23s and 26ers.

This was the part that made no sense to me, and made it obvious it was just a gimmick to sell more denim.

Did they even give out any general info/rules/check in time/etc ? For the American 16oz competition? The last time they acknowledged it was to say details would be coming in the future when contest pairs started delivering. That was three months ago.
