I've been wearing the 18oz LD jeans since I got them. Two washes - one cold, one warm. Prior to these, the Gustin 18oz were my favorites. I can't say that either pair is that much better than the other - the lower rise of the LD is less comfortable on me, but the pocket bags are much better on the LD - bigger and better materials. Details such as stitching are about equal. Denim, while the same, seems to wear differently. Can I quantify it? Not yet. I think the details on the LD have a slight edge for creativity. For me, what I know now is that 18oz is a sweet spot. I love the Beasts, but I think I'm hooked on 18-21oz range. Will be looking for interesting denims in that weight range for the future.
The one thing though that I see LD having an advantage in is price. The more I look at most of Gustin's offerings, the more I think they're overpriced. Sans the staples that they put up at a good price, I'm feeling more "in tune" with LD at the moment. Anxious to get the Herringbone Montana to see what the shirts are like...

Thanks for the comparison! I've got enough denim jeans. I am so looking forward to the 18oz KingZims! For me 16-18oz is the sweet spot. Glad I got the BEAST but they are a tough wear (I will happily wear them for years). I just can't bring myself to start all over figuring out size, cut, etc with another jean supplier. But I have high hopes for LD shirts! (A bit concerned, been almost 6 months from when I ordered my shirt with no sign of getting it anytime soon

Might I suggest that since there is such a dearth of Lawless reviews that you might want to move this over to the Lawless board?

Actually, I'm comparing my favorite Gustin jeans here so no. Now, I could copy it over there as well, but for now, it's OK. There needs to be some crossover - esp when comparing products of similar nature. But maybe some of them can go...

Well they just released two flannel shirts almost identical with the PB flannel and Cobalt flannel... The main difference seems to be on the weight!

Well, I finally found something worthy of burning up my last bit of store credit with G. Hello, Japan Heather Greys!

Thinking of backing both flannels. Love the color schemes of both. They would be the first shirts I backed in a few months.

I'm not sure I want my shirts fading like jeans.

I had the heather Greys as a free bee from Gustin. Just didn't like them. They looked too much like wool trousers or sweatpants. Sold them after trying them on.

love the colors and patterns on the new shirts though, but 5 oz is not heavy.

Gap, AE and Abercrombie are carrying one in red this season. I was at Gap and was thinking to pick up the two pockets one.... decided not to do it. Worry about all the kids will be wearing one on the street.

$109 is a lot of money for a 5oz run of the mill shirt. Pretty cool it's indigo but really not a big deal to me.

The AE rugged flannel feels 6-8oz range tight woven for $29

well the blue and red buffalo check pattern is a classic one so I wouldn't be too worried about that but I hear what you're saying. That's why I like the IH purple buffalo check flannel, you don't see purple buffalo checks too often.

I'm not sure I want my shirts fading like jeans. Not sure how the G fabric will fade but in my opinion some denim Indigo shirts look amazing when worn in.

yeah I don't dig the Heather Greys either. Jeans that look like wool trousers?? that's a good thing? That's what I like about 'em! I understand they're not for everyone (what is?), but lots of folks here like jeans that look like something other than jeans. Browns that look like chinos or canvas pants? Greys that look like dress slacks? Oxbloods that look like Nantucket Reds? All good, bruv.

Looks like Gustin will be bringing out a t-shirt soon, at least according to their Instagram pics.

Well, I finally found something worthy of burning up my last bit of store credit with G. Hello, Japan Heather Greys! What's going on with the IxI workshirt there? The jeans look cool, but I already have the Okayama Grey x Grey which look very similar at a heavier weight.
