wdw - can you send me the link to that jacket. Is it real alpaca pile? Over all sizing?

PM sent. For reference, it's a 40" and has 23" pit-pit. I'm 5'11". And it's almost certainly real alpaca pile, as it's a hairy beast inside, unlike anything I've seen. I think the cheaper version is synthetic.

43,000 yen ($350?) after 8% tax discount plus 6,200 yen shipping. I see from the site it's now 58,000 yen including the 8% tax, so about 54,000 net.
But there's also a cheaper version with I think manmade pile.

Buzz Rickson's N-1. It's the dearer "demotexed" version, whatever that means. Ordered Sunday, delivered half way around the world on Friday.
I like this a lot, and can see me wearing it more than I was expecting. i love that jacket and would have ordered it earlier in the year if it weren't for the USN stencil. the navy colored version has US NAVY across the back as well. i may end up with a pike bros n1 next winter, though i like the overall styling a wee bit less.

I hear your comments about the stencilling. I had a look at the IH version, but felt it was too modern and shiny, less authentic looking, so chose BR. I didn't find the stencilling offensive, but would have preferred not to have any. I believe one thing about the dearer version, which I bought, is that the stencilling is more worn looking, less like a transfer stuck on.
Anyway, I thought I'd try to get rid of it, so rubbed at it with hot water and hey presto, almost gone. It didn't take much effort at all. You can still see small outline if you're close up, but not to the casual view from any distance. I could probably remove every last drop if I kept at it, but I can't be bothered as it's now pretty much invisible.
Here's the before and after pics:

wdwthat looks great. I was just going to post how "I like those jackets and understand what they are trying to achieve, but I do not want the USN on them"

Does anyone have any experience to report ordering from 2nd, Pirates or Bears shops? I'm also curious about 2nd, they seem to have a good selection of Samurai in stock. marauder, you mentioned that Frisbee was slow... aside from that how was your experience? They also seem to have a good selection of Samurai in stock.

I ordered my jeans at about 7:25 pm Friday night and they shipped today (Monday) at about 1:20 am. This was including an off day on Sunday. Their communication has been awesome and very punctual.

Thanks, Ickes. Frisbee seems to sell a lot of no-wash versions as opposed to the one-wash versions (which seem very common across the Rakuten stores).

I haven't received the item yet, so I'll have more to say when I do. I like the non-wash versions they have too. I don't trust others to wash my jeans for me.

The Demotexed version has the moth- proofing labels on the alpaca lining.

Thanks davelewis. From what I read elsewhere, the main differences are the real alpaca lining, not synthetic, Talon zips, apparently a slightly more shaped cut and the more worn stencilling.
The alpaca's in the sleeves too, rather than them being simply cotton drill or quilting, as is more usual on jackets.

So FYI guys if you ever order from Fukuraku on Rakuten be prepared for a wait. They are the slowest vendor I have purchased from so far. I still have not received my Iron Heart Chinos that I ordered on March 3rd. I'm going to try to avoid them in the future unless they have something I can't find anywhere else, as was the case with my Iron Heart Chinos. I've been tracking them and they are in California right now so I should be getting them soon but it's possible I might get my Oni's before my chinos which I ordered almost two weeks later.

These vendors seem to change with the wind. Rhino was really fast for me. Fukuraku was a couple of days slower to despatch, but arrived only one day after Rhino, and Vari was as slow as Fukuraku at despatch and has now been stuck in customs for two days.
As for the sainted Rodeo, I emailed two addresses two days ago and have had no reply.
It all sounds like a lottery, but generally good service and prices from Rakuten, to be fair. A universe apart from you-know-who.
