I suddenly thought about this forum and come here to check what is going on. I am pretty amaze my user ID and password still works after being inactive for three years.
It was almost five years ago back in 2014 when about 10 of us decided to jump ship from the Gustin forum (RIP) to find somewhere else to chat. We first went to create a Gustin thread from some old-school denim forum (cannot remember the name now) and its users felt we invade their "pureness" of their space. The mod eventually kicked us out. It was at night and we turned around and decided to create this place.
I still remember the days that a bunch of denim heads here to chat/argue about everything, including shoes, belts, workout, cars, life, career, and so on. I was here every hours and it is a little sad that most of the old timers are gone from the forum now.
It seems like Gustin is still going and sell pretty much the same thing. Ciano is going upmarket and I hope they are doing well. Not sure about TS, since everyone was mad at them not MIUSA only. IHUK is still charging us premium price compared to Japan and I still have couple pieces in my closet that I never wear. I don't know much about the Japanese brand but I went to Tokyo couple months back and I feel the denim trend in Japan is pretty much dead.
Anyway, this forum definitely brings back a lot of great memories. I hope everyone is doing well in their lives.

Time does fly (I'm turning 50! Saturday). Still come here looking for a good discussion/argument on stuff. Oddly I was thinking about Lawless Denim lol (did anyone get a refund?) Just bought a few pairs of Gustin jeans. Still my best fitting and I bought them in a size 37! Good times!

Yeah I miss the days when this place was busy. Some really great discussion happened here (rather than just fade talk). Seems every forum is slow anymore unfortunately.

For the most part, I have purchased clothes that I consider timeless, and will last me for the duration. As for Lawless, I got in early on, and was fortunate to get everything I ordered from them, thanks to our buddy Sal. They are some of my best pieces, and are still in the rotation.

Just bought a few pairs of Gustin jeans. Still my best fitting and I bought them in a size 37! Good times! Lawless? I got a full refund check for all items not received from the Arizona Attorney General back in summer of 2018. I really didn't see that one coming. Went to Tokyo this weekend and wore my black bravestar jacket bravestarselvage.com/products/the-ironside-sherpa-fleece-12oz-selvage-denim-jacketI got it in a large and it fits great. My first run Gustin trucker in an XL is still too small for me with short arms. What a strange fit they had for their jackets. never bought another. Waiting for them or gustin to drop a good deal on some killer slubs. Was looking at Oni jeans at Hinoya in Ueno this weekend, but wasn't dropping 300 clams for more jeans. I will not live long to fade my current collection. I still skulk around for something new and slubby and "a good deal" to justify buying more stuff I don't need. And I want slub without looking streaky like the gustin Super Heavy Slubs. www.weargustin.com/store/jeans-26-super-heavy-slubI remember...that was back when all Gustin gave you was a photo of a small square of fabric that might have had a selvedge section in it. The small square of these jeans did not show how weird that "flame" look went across the entire pant. I am so glad I didn't jumps on them...like I jumpsed on the Cone Fire...ugh...and then I dyed the weft purple...talk about a pair of jeans I never wear. Purple pants...what was I thinking? New plan! I will wash them in super hot water and see if I can fade that purple out a little. Because you gotta have goals. Or maybe overdye them with kakishibu. Just stopping in to say hi to diggy. How did the bitcoin adventure turn out? Catch you all on the flipside.

How did the bitcoin adventure turn out? Catch you all on the flipside. Lawless (wonder what he's up to?), I must have filed wrong because I didn't get nothing other then a lesson on not believing hype. I'm still supporting Gustin, jeans just work for me. Bought my first black pair, let's see if I wear them. Probably only when I go into Boston (why do city folks wear so much black?) I still wear my Tellason white chore jacket. Except it now a cool petrol blue. I dyed it in indigo and then did kakishibu soak. Came out a cool vintage look. Bitcoin... Sons made a killing (invested $5k shot up to 75k) then lost it. They got out with a little profit. But then received a tax income 1099 form for 150k profit. They had to hire a good accountant to figure it all out. So the spent the profit on the accountant and taxes. But learned a good lesson that college wouldn't have thought them They now are following our foot steps and buying real estate.

DigDug that's wild. I remember reading years ago about your kids wanting to invest in bitcoin, and you considering whether or not to let them. My brother has a good bit of money still invested in ether, and really thinks it's gonna blow up in 2021. It's so ridiculous - I put on about 20 pounds around 3 years ago and can't fit into 90% of my exuberant wardrobe. I've probably got $15k in clothes I can't wear. I've just been telling myself I'm gonna lose weight, take a bunch of badass pics and flaunt them on the internet so a bunch of guys I've never met will know how cool I REALLY am. Yet, here I am at 4:45 AM drinking beer on a 'school night', fat as ever. I got married last October. My wife is pretty chill. She's actually kinda fascinated by the the clothes and leather gear I like, particularly Nick Hollows and Cat Bates. I had my engagement ring custom made by Cat Bates, in fact. She'll probably make me sell all the stuff I can't fit into when the eventual baby gets birthed.

They got up to $75K and then lost it all...what a wacky adventure! I think the last I heard, it was somewhere between $10 and $20K!
Ok. now that I have closure, I can go back to my subtropical quarantine cave.

Still here. How is everyone? Health? Working? Stable?
All is well with My family! No covid sickness. Still working . Getting tired of not socializing. Here in Massachusetts we're pretty good about mask and not making a big deal about it. Sucks, but what are you gonna do

Here in Massachusetts we're pretty good about mask and not making a big deal about it. Sucks, but what are you gonna do Great to hear. I have only known 1 person in my circle of people with Covid and they had a headache followed by mild fever. Then runny nose symptoms like a cold. Then it went away. Luckily still working. No breaks here. I do feel bad for the people out of work and businesses closed and or running partially. Lots of scared people. I don't even want bring up the other issues going. We just have to keep trudging through. Better days will come for all.

I am still here...working...last time I left Okinawa was February. I have just been making wallets for no reason. I got a shipment of four pieces of Rocado Shell Cordovan recently. Without travel, I am now looking to buy more denim... yinz think I should buy the Oni Secret 20oz denim in straight cut? Yeah, me too. I need them. it is weird. COVID is curing me of bad habits. Making me realize I don't need more stuff. I did some non-essential shopping after a long bout of restrictions and I thought, "I don't need anything here." I go to work, I go home, I make leather stuff, and I am growing too used to that routine. I don't want to go anywhere or do anything anymore. I hope I can shake that off when we can travel again. Legend has it, I might be able to travel to mainland japan soon.
The Japanese don't need to be told twice to wear masks. They have a strong sense of community here and the greater good.
Now here's to hoping that the Oni secret denims sell out in my size before I finally pull the trigger.

Secret denim arrived...it is OK. not as slubby as I would like. The oni XX series is much slubbier. The hype of a "secret" denim was just hype. Hey, whatever. I dropped down one full size and my oni XX series are hanging off me. So it is time to start seeing how these wear in. I shall go back into hibernation again.

Rex - good seeing you. So the Oni's are a lot of hype? I've been more focused on wearing my PBJ's and I'm really enjoying the slub texture of those. Probably going to spring for another pair as a winter month project.

Oni isn't hype, in my opinion, but the "secret denim" isn't quite as wild as I had hoped. They are nice and are growing on me, but I expected the slubbiest, wildest, craziest, neppiest denim that could only be kept a "secret" from the masses...lest they lose their goddamned minds. They were not quite as slubby as my other oni's, the nep isn't very pronounced, and the extra 4 ounces above 16 ounces probably isn't necessary. I wore them for two weeks rolled up at the cuff and will do at least one soak (they came as "one wash" version, but I want to get all of the various shrink/stretch cycles out), wear a while and then roll the dice and hope I get the hem length just right. Don't get me wrong, I like this pair of secret denim and I like the whole concept of Oni denim, but this specific secret denim is not the end-all be-all fabric of my dreams. The oni XX series is much better, but I am not fat enough for that pair of jeans anymore. Odd thing to be disappointed about. On the bright side, I fit into my early Gustins agains...the rainbow neps and the jade. Campaigns 52 and 65 respectively. That was back when Lord Gustin would post a 1" square of denim...and maybe would grace us with a shot of the weft. I have been eying up a pair of strait cut PBJ's...but I literally won't live long enough to fade all of this denim properly. For some reason, I never knew that PBJ's had a slubby wild texture until recently when I started following Hinoya on instagram. hinoya.shop/en/collections/pure-blue-japan/products/xx-003but travel is starting to open up for me...at least to mainland. Once I get this gimpy kitty I found healed up enough and/or re-homed, I am at least going to mainland. Probably Kobe (for the Takanori Yokoo museum and a burger made from Kobe beef), but Okayama is up on the list of possible destinations. Visiting the states will require two weeks quarantine in a hotel room when I return to Japan. Eff that.

On a lark I decided to log back into this site. My history says I haven’t posted since summer 2019! Miss chatting with you clowns. Hope everything is going reasonably well. My clothes purchases have taken a major drop off, so I don’t have much to report. It’s unfortunate the forum seems to be a landing site for bots.
