Picked up a pair about 6 months ago that were very snug in the waist initially but now are quite loose/sloppy in the waist/butt. I haven't washed or soaked yet and I'm wondering if i should have my tailor take them in a bit now or wait until i do a first soak. I'm not totally sure if these are sanforized but i think they are.
Thanks

Thanks I'd soak them and wear them awhile, then decide to have them tailored. If you do need/want to have them tailored, only have a denim specific tailor work on them like RailCar Fine Goods. Anyone else simply won't know the nuance to denim. And what they do or don't will bug you to the point you won't want to wear them

I wear them once or twice a week but I'm trying to wear them more often to increase the wear. Is it ok to soak them at this point or will i reduce the fade potential by soaking before there's visible wear on the creases? Id like to soak and wear now so that i can see how that affects the waist.

I'll just use my tailor because it will be a custom fit. There's no railcar in my city. I have a narrow waist and muscular thighs so my tailor adjusts every pair of pants i own.

Thanks You won’t get much shrink with a soak but will experience a little with a machine wash because of the agitation. Throwing them in the dryer will also shrink your denim further if that’s what you’re going for but most people hang dry their jeans. Denim is meant to stretch with wear.
