(sorry for my broken english but i guess you will understand the main idea of this review) As i ask to some of you, i was looking for prenium sneakers for affordable price as i'm not confortable to spend the money for Common Projects sneakers or even Gustin ones. Someone talk about Beckett Simonon. The Royale low Greats were another options but they only have the black ones with the suede part that i don't really like. I wanted something as minimal as possible. I gave a try and i'm happy with it. The price was $89 instead of $139 i think (plus $40 for shipping to France, that's why i was looking for a cheaper version of the CP and G's). I gues BS has some troubles and bad reviews in the past and i think that they try to make new customers again by decreasing the price. I heard that they did not even earn a penny to sell these sneakers at this price. That's why i make this review because, i think it is the minimum i can do as i did not participate to the growing of the company. First, i was very lucky as i wanted regular black leather sneakers and they offer only black suede on their eshop. I contacted them and get a very friendly and fast answer and they get few regular black pairs in stock from their last kickstarter campaign. So i order on Tuesday and get them the week after on wednesday !!! I'm usually a 12 in adidas, new balance, 11 in red wings, 11.5 in converse all stars. They told me to order size 11 and i was a little afraid because i thought it was too small when i measure my feet (in cm) but the size is perfect. They are very confortable out of the box. It is a stiched Margom sole. It is made in Portugal (it is not a problem with me, it is even a good point ;-)) as Portugal is well known in Europe for good textil cheapest workers. It is just stupid that these shoes are made in Portugal go to USA and comme back in France !!! (For the carbone footprint, i guess Portugal-France is lower than NY-LA !!!) The only negative point that i see is that we can see the stitch inside the shoe (i don't know if it is normal) and it is not perfect. And it does not feel very durable so i hope i won't have any problem with that. What's happend if one oh these stich broke? Since, i heard about a french company (Rudy's that makes pretty looking sneakers for 69€, free shipping in France, made in Portugal...) i guess they'll be my next try !!! but the sole is not stiched but glued... link

Thanks for your post Thomas! I was looking for a review of this sneakers. I have read many bad reviews about Beckett Simonon from 2013-14, but apparently they have improved a lot. There is a new drop of sneakers this month (slightly difference design though), and I'm very tempted of pulling the trigger. I know this post it's a little old, but in case you see this, can you give us an update about how your sneakers have hold up? In particularly the quality of the leather: is it too stiff/uncomfortable with many hours of wear? does it have too many wrinkles? About the size, is it comfortable snug or do you have a little wiggle in your toes ? I'm US 10 in Adidas/Nike, but in Red Wing US 9 is perfect for me. I would chose US 9 but they also have US 9.5 so ... I'm not sure yet (I'm also an international customer, so i have to get the size right in the first try) I would appreciate any advice , and thanks again for your review.

10% off code now so $112 shipped. Ready to pull the trigger but must read some reviews first. Cheaper than G's shoes and the others by far. I have a real mental block against spending > $100 for sneakers.

Chucks look better. At least to my eyes. Well I got off the chucks because I no longer liked how heavy they were and how my foot flopped around. This is after I got into Merrel's barefoot tennis shoes which are the only tennis shoes I currently wear. I have been resisting buying a pair of shoes like these because they seem a bit too trendy and have told myself I'm going to be "grown up shoe guy" and stick to wearing actual shoes and boots. Also been super tempted to buy a pair of these because of the barefoot thing but would take some getting used to as they kinda make me cringe inside as I'm not a "insert stereotype term for hippies/hikers/runners" or whatever demograhpic one would imagine wearing them. In the end I guess I'm a human and I need shoes, just have to figure out which ones. www.earthrunners.com/products/elemental?variant=10493247813

Isn't Beckett Simonon the company that got a lot of shady reviews? As in a lot of customers paid for product they never received?

northcoast I think if your at the age where your knees/feet are starting to need the extra cushion why not just buy whatever is comfy. I compare it to my running/walk shoes as most of them look out of place in jeans but at the end of the day my feet thank me. My two cents as a footwear addict

FOr me it's mostly about width as I have a narrow foot and am acquiring properly sized shoes so they dont flop around. Also, I really enjoy the barefoot feeling. Mostly, I just never got into wearing tennis shoes around once I got past my 20's.

I struggle with this too. I like my CT70 Chucks, but regular ones are awful. A slightly nicer version would be nice, I plan on grabbing the Epaulet Horsehides, and may try the Rancourt Court Classics too. At least the Rancourts are MiUSA. For whatever reason, the Gustins have no appeal to me.

I'm the opposite of you and I have trouble wearing all my sneakers from years past. A wide forefoot and high volume make it a pain for me to find comfortable shoes without my foot falling of the sides of the foot beds. Most kids/teens/adults will wear the shoe even though you can tell its totally hurting them. I guess try the vibrams lol or any of the zero drop shoes with the squarish forefoot but in narrow footbed. good luck on your quest.

I was hoping I could find someone selling a gently used pair of horsehides on grailed or ebay but nada. I want to try them out but I'm scared it will be too narrow in the forefoot for me. The sport trainer is the widest silhouette. Maybe if a sale comes up on the other colors for cheap, I will test it out. Rancourt told me to go TTS, size 10 but then again the second half of their email said you could always return and exchange lol.

cassaruby I was thinking of getting them too to try out. I just chatted with them and they told me to go with a size 9.5 which is my brannock. I have one of their early chukkas from late 2012 when they first started out in a size 9 that was actually closer to a 9.7-10 lol. It fits me now since my foot splayed out.

I think they will be roomy. I'll prolly get size 10 and still have a little extra room, maybe try to size down to 9.5 if 10 is too roomy... if they make extras, if I pull the trigger.

At least when I talked with them about sneakers, they told me that changing size shouldn't be a problem because they make extras. I ended up not buying :/, when I decided to order for $99 they said that they wouldn't ship internationally for the moment.
