Beings that I am a sucker for neppy selvedge denim these new jeans from Naked and Famous are on my radar. The MIJ3 jeans are a limited run of denim. not all Naked and Famous retailers will get them. Made from 16oz recycled cotton and rope dyed with a green cast dye. Also the denim is woven slow and not mechanically shrunk . They sound like they will fade to a nice blue tone with a good ammount of interesting texture. When I fist saw these they reminded me of Ciano Farmers "Secret Denim" If any one owns a pair chime in with your two cents, The selvedge line looks the same to me. link to selvedge line photo The next time I go to the Blue Owl Work Shop in Seattle I will certainly try on a pair! link for more info about them link to N&F  A photo of them showing five months of wear. link |

I was keeping an eye out for these as well, but that $270 price tag (pretty sure I saw this floating around today but can't find it now) is just too steep. $270 is putting them above PBJ, Momotaro, Japan Blue, Oni, and many others if you purchase through Denimio or Okayama Denim. They do look interesting just not for me at that price point (maybe if they are $180-$200).

These seem to be a bit darker/not quite as blue, have a whiter weft, are lighter at 16 oz., is sanforized, and have a more reddish and broken selvedge line. Other than that, they're exactly the same! Your world frightens and confuses me. Sometimes the honking horns of your traffic make me want to get out of my BMW and run off into the hills...or...wherever. Sometimes when I get a message on my fax machine, I wonder "did little demons get inside and type it?" I don't know! My primitive mind can't grasp these concepts. But there is one thing I do know: those aren't the same jeans. |

Honestly I think a lot of it is his beard. If he shaved that thing or even trimmed it down he wouldn't look as old. Look at Kerry King in the back...still looks the same....although he's probably rockin some Just For Men in that goatee.

Thank-you for the info about the Ciano Secret Denim it sounds very different from these N&F MIJ#3's, and closer to Oni denim than any others.
I agree about the price point, why would I choose this pair of denim, if I could get a pair of Pure Blue Japan or Oni denim for the same amount or less.

Yeah, I sort of don't understand why so many denim folks are gushing about these. I think the Fire Monkey jeans are a better value. Japan Blue Cote d'Ivoire with cobalt weft also seems like a more interesting denim with a more compelling story. I hope the folks that get these enjoy them.

Yeah, the hype about these going on right now is little weird? N&F posted on their imgur account a pair with about six months wear. I like how the fade looks If I go to Blue Owl workshop in the near future I will look at them,maybe try a pair on among the several other pairs I want to see in the flesh.   |
