I'm signed up for the launch email, and am interested somewhat in their products depending on pricing. There is absolutely no mention of a launch date (they've been saying "soon" for a while now) or pricing.
I do know from reading their IG comments that these are likely made in China. If that's true, unless they mention where their leather is sourced, I'm absolutely out, as I've already been down that road with 2 pairs of India-made Grensons.
The leather in all of the prototype shots looks beefy and high-quality, but that doesn't necessarily mean that exact leather makes it in to production units.

if they are in fact MiC then I too would be out. but, i'll wait for their official launch before jumping to conclusions.

www.styleforum.net/t/518394/grant-stone-official-affiliate-threadit's official, they're MiC. don't know how I feel about this. My immediate reaction is no way in hell, bu from what i've seen via IG they've been doing wear tests on their shoes to check for durability. Think i'll sit this one out and see how things develop for them.

I'm in the same boat as you. Don't really want MiC shoes, but OTOH, they are making exactly the type of shoes/boots that I want. The styles definitely strike a chord with me, but I think that I would be rolling the dice on the leather quality.

Think i'll sit this one out and see how things develop for them. My Kendal Hyde boots were made in China, and they're pretty comfortable and the leather is pretty nice. That said, the manufacturer changed the spec on the final run boots without telling KH and the liaison (apparently required in cases where a foreign company is making a product in China) that changed the spec disappeared so there was no recourse or accountability. I wouldn't likely support a new company making shoes in China again (I mistakenly assumed MiUSA for these) unless they are actually a Chinese company, and I try not to support bigger companies doing the same. If nothing else, it's good to sit out the first round of full production out of China, since apparently they will often change spec and see if anyone notices.

I'm torn on this one.
The pictures have been pretty nice so far, but I would prefer MiUSA or UK.

The styles definitely strike a chord with me, but I think that I would be rolling the dice on the leather quality. without a specific price point being mentioned it's too much of a gamble for MiC. it looks like their target market will be those guys that are into Alden's stuff, minus Alden prices. But if it turns out they're selling them in the $400-500 range then it's a no brainer to stick with Alden. Again, it's too early to say and without knowing the build quality, leather quality or pricing we're still in the dark. The shoes themselves look great, but I too was hoping for MiUSA.

It seems to me that being MiC, they'd *easily* be able to beat the $199 price Gustin charges for MiUSA boots made with Horween leather.

we'll see. even though G is only charging $199 for their boots I just happen to find them ugly and wouldn't pay for their footwear. Grant is more about dress casual styles like bluchers and such. the other conundrum for Grant is how their shoes will fit. their launch could be a complete success or failure depending on the things we've discussed: price, construction, leather quality, country of origin and fit

It's crickets over on their SF post. I think the MiC blurb scared everyone away

They're not identical, but their longwings look a lot like J.Crew Ludlow wingtips. A lot. And they also happen to be imports as well.
The brogue toe die is a bit different and the "widow's peak" on the GS is a bit longer, but the sole makeup is eerily similar as is the overall upper design, right down to the little plus-sign stitch on the bottom of the vamp below the bottom eyelet.

Hi everybody, this is Wyatt from Grant Stone. To answer some of your questions, we are making the shoes here in Xiamen, China where I am located. It's just a few of us putting this new project together. We developed the last and patterns just this last fall. The fit comments and reaction have been great so far.
We are putting a lot of emphasis on the materials used. Of course the upper and lining is important, you can see on the Instagram the likes of US & French tanneries but the shoe is also made with leather insole, cork filler, steel shank and so on.
As you all have mentioned, MIC is a issue for some and we understand this. Personally being at the factory, it is all about not cutting corners and sticking to what you believe works.
The website will be up probably tomorrow. We at Grant Stone know that photo samples are important but it will not create repeat customers. We are excited to start shipping some shoes and hopefully build our consumer's confidence overtime.

Not sure about the price for MiC. They look nice, but they're priced around AE and Meermin, but the latter two can be had for cheaper either on sale or MTO groups. Meermin even had a shell pair hit the mid $300s.

I know they're Chinese, so I'd never buy them, but that's a sharp looking boot. Off to order my iPhone 7...

Two boot drops today from GS. I'm kind of liking the Black Diesel for $360: At that price and in general too generic for my tastes. Lots of options at that number. Pass. For Mi(NOTUSA) footwear model I'm interested in these guys. The value is there, Portugal or Columbia manufacture. Not boots though. beckettsimonon
