I would actually welcome another housing crash, then I could afford to buy a home for cheap that isn't a fixer upper

This time, I think the US job marketing will crash first and then the housing. I am unsure that will be good for the majority of us here. The happy people will be our super rich and Chinese national. They can scope up our prime properties for cheap.

It would take a lot to get me back into owning a home.

I'm having an issue with something they shipped me, and I shot them an email. Think I will have to give them a call tomorrow.

My brother was living in this same apartment complex 10 years ago and he was paying about 55% of what I am paying now. Btw, that was 2006 and the economy was totally on fire.

It is about time to see some drops.

I would actually welcome another housing crash, then I could afford to buy a home Fixed it. Pretty much. I keep getting hounded by a real estate guy through my credit union and he's always asking me if this is the year i'll buy a home. I told him repeatedly that 1) I don't have squat for a down payment let alone closing costs and 2) if it's not in a decent neighborhood i'm not interested. So basically I'm f*cked.

In the Bay Area I would say rent well city areas in general rent. If you are staying in a house for over 5 years I say own especially if you want land. I hope I can get 3+ acres next house.

Having peace and quiet and more space seems like a nice trade off. I've had the worst luck with tenants that own whiney dogs, and I love dogs. Plus, I've got a soon to be 3 yo and I really dislike it that he doesn't have a space to call his own when he's with me

But I'm now 44 so it's getting harder for me to settle for things these days. Right now I simply deal with what i have and make the most of it.
