www.pigeontreecrafting.com Pigeon Tree Crafting is a small business based in Los Angeles that specializes in high quality Leather & Indigo goods.
About the maker-
My name is Isaac Paul, and I've been a Denimhead for the past 5 years (always feel like I'm part of a support group when I say that). The brand that started it all for me was Rising Sun Jeans, who was based in Eagle Rock at the time. I remember that first pair seemed so stiff and uncomfortable, but I stuck with it and fell in love with raw denim and the community that surrounds it. My favorite aspect of the style is that not only are the goods made to last, but they evolve into something completely different than how they started..
I'm a huge proponent of Made in USA goods; supporting our local craftsman and the quality that comes with that is what it's all about. My goods are all handmade by me, right here in Los Angeles, CA, where I was born.
About the brand-
Leather transforms and tells a story that spans the life of the product, which sometimes can match the life of its owner. I'm intent on making high quality leather goods that will last as long as you do, or longer. Because of my mutual interests in denim and leather, I incorporate natural indigo dye into many of my offerings. I love playing with different dye patterns and dip styles. The result is highly unique.
'Pigeon Tree' came to me when I was looking out from my patio and noticed a telephone pole filled with pigeons, it occurred to me that you almost never see a pigeon in a tree, so in a way, a telephone pole is a pigeons tree. Both the telephone pole and the pigeon are messengers; I want my products to tell a story, and to help you tell yours.
About the products-
My specialty is my use of natural indigo and full grain vegetable tanned leather, but every now and then I will use some of the higher end leathers like Shell Cordovan (I've even done indigo dyed shell!). The motivation behind all of my products is to create things that I want in my life, and to do it really, really well.
Catchall trays are wet formed to shape using 10oz full grain leather. No chemicals or glues are used, only water. I get comments on how surprisingly sturdy they are, they will last a lifetime without losing shape. I top each one off with a coat of natural bees wax to protect the surface.
Belts and Dog Goods are made to measure and I account for stretch in my sizing for that perfect custom fit. I have diagrams on the listing pages with measuring instructions.
All of my dyeing is done by hand without the use of tape or guidelines so there are subtle differences in each product as you would expect from a handmade product.

Those are fun looking belts. Whats the advantage of the teardrop? Thanks Northcoast! There's no practical advantage to the teardrop holes, it's just for aesthetics. I personally like the look a lot. I had to order the teardrop stamp from Japan, it's not very popular here yet.

cool looking belt. The advantage I see from a quick release belt is for those emergency situations when you feel like you're gonna have an accident in your trousers.

Man I should have been a firefighter That's what every cop I know says, lol. Kidding aside, I was fortunate enough to have never been shot at, as we had the popo to secure emergency scenes for us, and for good reasons. There are some crazy MFers out there.

I'm slowly talking myself into one of these.
I just got out the measuring tape and found that a couple of my favorites are just under 1.5" so that width should be fine.
Do have any side shots to scale as to the width of the leather? I had to sell a G Heavyweight belt as I did not like the thickness and combined with the 1.75 width I felt like I was wearing a wrestling or weightlifting belt.
Also, I think a really cool option you could offer would be pre tarnished Brass.
I like varied belts and this would go right in the wheelhouse.

Hey Northcoast! Thanks for the interest! This is a dark indigo belt that I had just bees waxed the burnished edges on, the wax settled in really nicely by the end of the day, that's why it looks so tacky or gummy in the photo. The leather I use is 9-10oz, and in my opinion is the perfect belt thickness. If you need another side shot against a measuring tape, let me know, I just happened to already have this pic on my phone. Pre tarnished brass is something that I've considered, as well as nickel plated. This has only been going for about a month now and I'm starting small, but have been really pleased with the success so far, so I will definitely branch out into some of the other options over time.

A new item that I've been making a lot of are leather catchall trays. This particular tray is dyed with natural indigo on the inner side, but left natural on the outside. This is achieved by a coating on the back of the leather which doesn't allow the dye to adhere, and then sanding off any specks of dye that do manage to stick. I then wetform the tray into shape and give the inside a coat of natural bees wax.

Hey guys! I changed the title of this thread to encompass a bit more of what I'm making these days. Got some cool new items in the shop, lots of new Catchall styles, and I've added some front pocket wallets as well! The wallets are hand saddlestitched using Herman Oak vegtan, and I've opted for unwaxed linen thread so that it would soak up the dye. I do a lot of custom orders, so if anyone is interested in a different type of dye pattern, I'm happy to oblige. Thanks for looking!

OxBlood is an awesome look, I'm surprised with how often I find myself wearing it, it's a lot easier to pair than I thought it would be. Black boots, brown boots, sneakers.. It's about as versatile as it gets.
Happy to make one for you whenever you're ready!

Nice belts! Seems like those buckles would be perfect for accessing the button fly. Big fan of the teardrop holes as well.

Nice belts! Seems like those buckles would be perfect for accessing the button fly. Big fan of the teardrop holes as well. Thanks! The buckles are very practical. It would be so weird to go back to a regular buckle at this point, I don't know if I would know what to do.
