It's taken me this long to really figure out which denim weights i like and dislike. A lot of it has to do with regional temps but also comfort. While i don't particularly care for lighter weight denim 12oz or under, there is a place for it in my wardrobe during those hot summer months. I think my absolute minimum has to be at least 13oz or 14oz, but now that i have my J17's i'm starting to like the heavy stuff. But, i think 17oz is the heaviest im willing to go so far.
What about you? Do you have a preference or do you like to have variety?

I think most of my stuff is in the 12-14 range. I did get a couple of lighter pairs and man they come in handy when it's hot out.

Admittedly with my geography, I don't give enough love to my "heavier" denim (American Sixteeners) but I think I've been acclimated enough to want to wear them more when the temp drops into the "high in the 80s". Overall, I'd say I'm partial to the 14-17oz range. I probably wear most of my denim around 13.5-14 range, with some love for the Sixteeners. I do have a few pairs between 12-13, which get rotated in, but more so in the summer months. Grey silks still sit in my closet, but they aren't getting nearly as much wear. Not sure if it's just been my gravitation to blue and indigo, but they just waiting to be worn. I'd guess they are more for "dressy" things and non-indigo/blue situations.

Yeah I really haven't worn my blue or grey silks at all. Same with Pima fires. Now that October is here and the temps really cooled off daily wear will by the 633S.

Haven't tried heavier than 20oz but that seems fine. Wouldn't go lower than 14oz.

18oz so far. Looking for a 20oz to compare to. Nothing less than 16. I have a few 14's and they're nice, but only wear when it's really hot.

If sub18 i like the ones with structure like the loomies and pbj ixi While both is about 15 after soak they feel more substantial due to the character and is my sweetspot. Comparing them to okas they feel more like 16oz. Great everyday weight and then my 18 and 21 is good for the colder months or when you wanna cloth yourself badass. It also depends how ots woven, The IH 21 is so soft they can be worn as usual jeans imho. 12 oz become too soft for me and drapes funny so I almost never wear that.

I range from 14 to 20s. I like heavier, but denser weave higher starch 14s can feel heaver than some "heavy" fabrics. Don't really love sub 14. And I wear my 20+ denim in high 90s high humidity Florida. I'm not a sweaty guy, though, so take that into consideration.

I think I like the 18oz weight but I am waiting on the CF 23oz. Then I wear my loomies and love these. Then I wear my zims and love them. Then my light weight candiani and love them. I finally realize I am a denim addict and I'll wear any weight.

Prefer the substantial feel & look, the evos & the durability of heavy denim. 18-26oz. Wear lighter denim sometimes during summer.

Does heavyweight denim actually do anything to insulate you from the cold? Im anxious to get my J17's hemmed, as well as my Blue 17's, so i can wear them this winter

You might feel a diff if you're outdoors in freezing temps and there's a cutting wind though.

Tight weave denim will block wind. Which can attribute to you...freezing balls off!

If there was only a one weight choice... I'd go with 16oz.
