Oni is part of a family that owned one of the Japanese mills and the claim is that one gnarled old dude runs the only loom that makes their denim. Seems like they'd know if they misplaced any of it.

It is not out of the question that some other mill has taken it upon themselves to replicate a loose weave, high texture, high nep denim.

TEST RESULTS FROM THE WASH[COLD WATER SOAK 2 HOURS]..DRYING TIME.... 2 DAYS..because of the rain..so the jeans dried by moon light. HAAAA... ORIGINAL SIZE [ BEFORE WASH ] 901 WAIST 36 [39 ACTUAL] FRT RISE 11 1/2 BCK RISE 14 1/2 THIGH 13 1/2 KNEE 9 1/4 OPEN 8 1/2 INSEAM 33 [ AFTER WASH ] 901 WAIST 36 [37 ACTUAL] FRT RISE 11 BCK RISE 14 THIGH 13 KNEE 9 OPEN 8 1/4 INSEAM 31 CONCLUSION 2" in the waist 2" in the length 1/2' thigh, and rise 1/4" knee and bottom opening. so it looks like you should size up 1 [ one ] size. Hi cianofarmer, can you please do a hot soak on a swatch of fabric? You're getting 3-4% shrink in width with a cold soak. I ordered mine assuming 8-10% shrink with a hot soak. Seems like a reasonable assumption but it would be nice to verify. Thank you.

Does Studio D’Artisan use Kurabo Mills? I wonder because the denim that Cinao found and the denim Gustin recently posted. looks very much like what Studio D' Artisan calls Christmas denim because of it's very snowy looking neps? It was used by Studio D’Artisan a couple years ago for some special edition jeans. It is the only denim I have seen that is close to the very neppy denim Oni uses. Your thoughts on this?

Gustin says the denim is sanforized while CF and Oni says otherwise. Also Gust advertises as 18 oz not 20 oz

hello everyone.
yes i saw the G drop...i do not know if it is the same but we bought our fabric from Kurobo Mills.... and it is not sanforized as per the test results...and as per Kurobo Mills
as I said before Kurobo Mills said it was a 20oz fabric... and i said it does not feel like a 20oz fabric....so i am only offering up the information they told me....
so we posted the test results on the jeans and you all can see it is not sanforized with the shrinkage results.
Mike and I are getting the new pattern work for this fabric from the "Dragon Lady" this weekend..so we will be sending what we are going to cut and what it will shrink to for each order in the next couple for days based on the shrink test.
everyone who ordered a jacket we still have to make a jacket to see what the shrinkage will be....
so everyone knows we did a cold soak,,not a hot or warm soak...so if you do a hot soak it may be more.....
we have been told from Kurobo Mills that the nep denim is a hot trend now in selvage and everyone is asking for this type of denim....also the rumor [ Japanese source] is that Oni get most of their fabric from Kuroko Mills...HAAAAA...
just remember..the jeans you get from us is a quality jean and we hand make each piece one at a time...we do not mass produce like the other brand..and we back each jean that leaves our shop....so this jeans will be very special to us and will now be matched to any other brand...especially for the price.....
We are going to do our best to get these orders out before the G drop..so you can see the difference in quality....we try our best to make the best bespoke denim in the market..and that is a goal we are striving to every day in our shop...regardless of the delays and the unexpected hicups we encounter on a day to day basis...we are here to stay.
we have a surprise for all of you in the next week or so.......HAAAAAAAAA.....
we are only as good as the customers who support us..and we always bend over backwards to make you all happy....
so i will keep you guys up to date on this launch..
email or call us 281-202-1078..if you have any questions....we are always happy to hear from you all...
Cheers Ciano

That looks different than the oni 20oz secret. White weft and there is more weft showing through on the face.

Just got my email regarding the adjusted pattern for shrinkage for the pair I ordered everything looked good had to add an inch to the inseam Same, but I had to ask if it was a hot or cold soak. Post soak proposed waist is an inch too big, but if it was a cold soak then the adjusted pattern might be fine if I hot soak.

so... the shrinkage was based on a cold soak in the bath tub and hung dry outside.

I never heard back from Ciano re: sizing. Gonna try calling today. Last I saw was a proposed cut email that had the rise super low.
Edit: Left a voicemail. I'm sure I'll hear back soon.
The proposed rise on my Secrets was 9.5 which is way too low for me. My custom pattern jeans from these guys measure at 10.5. I've still got the Vintage 18's coming but I'd love these too.
