I am headed to NYC this morning and it is HOT. Walking around all day in heavy weight denim and Whites boots just isn't happening! I have an old pair of raws that are just about dead, so I figured I could make them into shorts for walking around the city. Of course I'll bring jeans for going out at night, but shorts will fit the bill for walking around during the day. But maybe you guys can help with some tips so my jorts have a little bit of style. Length? Cuff? Just slash them with a pocket knife so the "hem" has a bit of jaggedness and personality? Dirty_Denim this is probably up your ally since are you rocking out in the desert these days.

To play it safe , I usually cut mine long below my knee and then cuff em to the length that looks best with the look i want. U also need to choose a pair of jeans that aren't to slim to allow for a cuff if need be.

Yeah I f!@ked up and cut them off mid knee cap, so cuffed they are too short. Oh well, they are trash after my hot ass weekend in NYC anyway.

Trust me i have done the too short thing a few times. I cut one of my favorite jeans and ruined them. (IH 666XHS) I now learned my lesson and so will u lol. I recently cut my LD Cone peach id and my RRL 1922 buckleback jeans. Both look ok. I may get em hemmed to clean them up a bit

Having grown up during the cut off shorts years I can't imagine wearing them now. Why not just take them to a seamstress?

Blue in Green was not impressed with my jorts. With a proper hem or a cuff they probably wouldn't look so home-econ. Send it off to railcar for a chainstitch hem!

I'm obviously the minority right now, but I think they look fine as is.
I wouldn't DARE get them hemmed! There's a reason why you don't see jhorts for sell very often...
