I use the creamo lotion as a post shave, or just for dry skin. Also a good product. I like a few soaps, tabac is my fav- like the scent and find it easy to lather. Stirling soap gets major thumbs up from me, great products and great people, husband and wife team. Another product I recommend, the Kiss My Face moisture shave. It's almost like a liquid soap dispenser, and the name is a little silly, but its good stuff. You can to a quick face lather with it when pressed for time, or if you're having trouble lathering a soap, just put a drop of this stuff in the mix, it'll foam it right up.

I'm a shaving soap user and like Mike's soaps, when I can get it. I'm using Mitchell's Wool Fat right now, but it's not as good a value. I've got Tabac, too, but I'm also a value and values kind'a guy, so if I could choose, Mike's would be it.
My face reacts to the Mama Bear's and other artisan soaps.. it's not super sensitive, but for some reason, I think the fragrance oils irritate my skin. Penhaligon's does this, too, but not as much.
As for brushes.. I use a Semogue boar brush, typically.. it's cheap and whips up a great lather. I've got a custom silvertip I got from an Australian woodworker on eBay and a Mühle silvertip.. I reserve those for days where I can take my time to enjoy a luxurious shave.

I've lost count of how many DE razors I own. I think I have approximately 5-6 Gillette fat handle Techs in mint condition (1 or 2 of which are the gold plated variety and another which is a version that was made in England with a thinner handle), a Fat Boy, Merkur, Gillette portable, Feather portable, Gillette Super Speed, and Gillette Aristocrat (scored for $5 in mint condition at an antique store in northern Minnesota a few yrs ago). I've found that I dislike my TTO (twist to open) razors so they don't get used. I'll keep them purely for the sake of collecting them but i'll definitely pass some of them onto my son when he's old enough to shave.

I was at Target today and as I was browsing the shaving section I came across the Van Der Hagen brand. They've now started selling badger brushes, shave kits, DE blades and TTO razors. I'm guessing the quality on all of them are pretty crappy since Van Der Hagen isn't exactly considered a high end brand, but it might be a good place to look for those just starting out

exophobe, got an update on your razor? I take it everything is fine with it now and there are no more issues?

I almost had a relapse and bought myself a pack of 4 blade disposables. I've already got some cheapo 2 blade disposables I use every now and again but I prefer my trusty DE razor. I'm set for life on blades. Glad I recognized my OCD and stopped buying razors, blades and soaps/creams.

I used to buy from West Coast Shaving, but nowadays I don't buy anything shaving related. I still have the 100 pk of Personnas that I bought 4 years ago and I have enough shave soap/cream to last me a decade or so. At the rate I shave, which is probably every couple of days, my shaving supplies should last me forever. there's a small part of me that wants to try new stuff but I don't want to get sucked into that rabbit hole again. it's weird. my Gillette fat handle tech used to be my go-to DE razor because it's pretty mild on my skin, but i've been reaching for my Merkur 33C these days because it's slightly more aggressive and tends to give me better shaves.

Yeah, I like a more aggressive shave. Even with my beard, I'm cranking my Merkur Futur up to 4 with Personna Med Preps. Just ran out of Harris cream, about to break out the Mike's.

bentin do you go for bbs and shave daily? I seem to shave less and less nowadays just because I work in a laxer environment and not a clean room anymore. I do like the aggressive shaves and lately I use a Fatip grande since i can comb through my thick hair. Best shaves I ever got is when I use my gillette slim adjustable.

Yeah, I two pass my neck and single pass my cheeks. Once a week I take out the unibrow too. I don't shave Friday or the weekends though, beard or not. I tend to keep the beard for fall and winter and ditch it for spring and summer.
I used to deal with pre shave oils and after shave but now just use an SPF lotion. Much easier and doesn't seem to have any adverse effects.

My beard hair is just too thick and coarse and wiry to make daily shaves any kind of non-torturous experience.

i've never tried growing out my facial hair, with the exception of my sideburns, which I did a few years back. Don't know if i'll do that again. the ole mutton chops got pretty thick and wirey and it was hella itchy. if I were to attempt to grow a 'beard' it'd probably look like Dave Grohl's patchy facial hair rather than a full on lumberjack look. I can't go more than a few days without shaving because I feel and look like a bum

For me the first three weeks are a scratchy, scraggly mess and I nearly always feel like shaving it off. But if I get through that, it becomes manageable and much less annoying. Until the first full clippering though, it never looks or feels right.

I hadn't grown a beard until a few years ago. I thought WTH, easier than shaving. Wrong, what a PITA. Looked okay but high maintenance. Bed beard! Lately I use clippers set short, hit it a couple times a week. Works great for me. For many years I shaved with only bar soap.

Anyone get laser hair removal? A female friend told me that it did not work well for her. Btw, don't ask me where is the hair. Not PG.

Any suggestions on some good shaving oil? I have used All Natural shaving oil from Amazon in the past. These days I am using just the Proraso preshave cream and am generally happy with it.. However want to see if there is a better shaving oil as using just the preshave cream feels a little rough sometimes..

Stopped using pre shave stuff years ago, just a good shaving cream and a badger brush works for me. Oil seemed to help when I was using a less aggressive blade and razor, but doesn't seem to do anything with my current setup.
