Up to 40% off sale with free shipping and returns. Frye Run 1/2 size large for me. Here's a couple I'm eying, both US made.

I've tried really hard to like Frye but even at a discount I just can't bring myself to buy their product. I've read mixed reviews of their boots and it sounds like the quality of their product isn't what you'd expect given the prices they charge. Second, it's no longer an American company and is owned by some Hong Kong conglomerate, so they've essentially sold out and became a sh*tty fashion brand. I just find it incredibly strange (and insulting) that Frye likes to tout itself as an American Heritage brand but is now owned by a company in Hong Kong.

Have worn different Frye engineer boots for years...wasn't aware of this. Yeah, pretty disheartening.

I've come across many clothes at the thrift store that use the term 'American Heritage' in their branding, but then when you look at the country of manufacture it will say 'made in China.' What irks me about Frye is that their MSRP is the equivalent of true heritage brands like Alden or Viberg, and we all know Frye isn't even in the same league as them. Anyway, i'm not trying to derail this thread and turn it into a crusade against Frye. It's up to the consumer to decide what they're willing to spend their money on and whether or not there is value in a brand.

Yes, they are owned by a Chinese conglomerate, but to say they "sold out" is misleading. They were in trouble in the 80's and changed hands several times, (once owned by reebok). This happened to many, many American companies. I don't think ownership effects heritage but if you don't want to buy from a Chinese held co they aren't for you. We probably all buy things without a clue who the parent company is. I think they get a bad rap on the boards (usually by people that don't own them) imho their USA made boots are equal or better than the competition (direct comparison with 1000 mile) I wish Rawr had put a frye boot in the recent boot comparison they did recently. The two boots pictured above are USA made, one is 100% and has details I've seen on boots normally priced much higher than this sale price.
