@david
i'd return them to Leffot and just get a refund. I suspect your pair will eventually wind up on TSM's seconds list. Such a shame that the defect wasn't caught. I'd be mad as hell forking over a ton of dough only to have my boots show up in seconds condition.

I received an email from Leffot this evening. They confirmed that they had no additional pairs in my size. My options are to return them for a full refund or to send them to Alden to see if they can repair them. I'm not sure if that 2nd option is feasible as I'm unsure what method they would use to repair. I'm also not sure logistically if I would ship them to Alden or Leffot, and if I would be reimbursed for shipping costs... or if they can't repair them what my refund options are at that point (and from who). Way easier for all of us to say "return them" when we didn't wait 5 months (more?) for them. However, even with the big wait, I believe I would still return them because I'd be annoyed every time I put them on. I own a couple of pairs of 2nds from Allen Edmonds and I still notice the defects on them. It doesn't bother me because I knew they were 2nds, but that doesn't prevent me from noticing it.

those are F'ING sweet. how did you score those? very jealous. Long story short, BB store manager hooked me by charging 40% of the price instead of 40% off the price

ePaulet just restocked this sexy little number. The Alden for ePaulet Ironside Indy Boot in Earth Chamois. Needless to say, the desire to cop is very high.

Seriously considering some Alden's. I really want the jumper boot or a similar cap toe. I'm thinking black for versatility but I love the natural. Anyone have suggestions about where to get them in that or similar style for the best price?

Your best bet might be to sign up for TheShoeMart's Alden seconds list. Otherwise. Places like epaulet and Leffot do a lot of pre-order special make ups if you can wait. Leather Soul Hawaii probably has the best selection of Alden imo

gaseousclay is right about Leather Soul, but they don't seem to do the black Indy with a common sole very often and that is what I'm looking for at the moment.

Not sure what a common sole is, but Haberdash has black Indy's on sale. Edit: Did you mean the Commando Sole? ePaulet has the closest to what you want. Earth Chamois instead of black though, but it's a lot sexier than black IMO. I'm mulling it over, and will probably pull the trigger within the next few weeks.

Where does one buy Aldens? Lots of places. gaseousclay named a few. Haberdash is closing. Jcrew has them. Context is sold out of the ones I want very badly. Unionmade sells them. Shoemart sells firsts and seconds. Really, just need to Google Alden, and you'll find a very long list of stores that sells them.

Don't see an option on their website.

Yeah, commando is what I meant, but "d" is having issues on the laptop keyboard and auto correct did the rest. Just wonder how the Chamois would do with rain and snow.

devastitis thanks for bringing those Earth Chamois to my attention. Seems like the leather is actually a better choice for wear in the elements than what I was looking at. I went ahead and got a pair (that will be my shoe purchase for the year). May miss the speed hooks but I think those could be added later if I really miss them.

northcoast I think you asked on Styleforum about how to care for the Horween Chamois leather. Did you ever get an answer? I just reached out to Context Clothing. They have these, which are the same as the ePaulets, but I like the speed hooks and crepe sole. If they don't restock soon, I'll go with the ePaulets, as the commando sole is number 2 on my list.

devastitis I think I got the last 10 at epaulets since the site doesn't show any 10s left. My Leffot naturals are 9.5 and are a little tight with a thicker sock or I would have gone with the 9.5 on the epaulets pair. I really can't wait to see how these look. I do think I need to be done with my shoe collection though. Alden Naturals, Alden Earth Chamois, Wolverine Courtland, Allen Edmond Park Ave Brown, Allen Edmond Carlyle Walnut, Allen Edmond Strand Oxblood Danite, Herring Oxford Black, three pair of Adidas, couple pair of Converse, pair of tweed low tops, and pair of denim Vans all in last two and a half years should be enough shoes to cover all occasions I can think of. And I really don't want to think about the expenditure even though I know most of them will last for 10-15 years or longer with some resoling and proper care. This also reminds me that I need to snap some picks of my 9.5D Red Wing Black Cherry Beckmans to put up on BST along with some pairs of Gustins and Lawless, and some Barbour jackets. Have some tweed sport coats as well but doubt fellas here would be interested in them.

northcoast I think you asked on Styleforum about how to care for the Horween Chamois leather. Did you ever get an answer? Context replied to my email, and stated: "The chamois leather is very heavily oiled, so we don't recommend much other than wiping off dirt, salt, etc with a damp cloth and using shoe trees when the boots aren't in use." Hope this helps.

northcoast I think you asked on Styleforum about how to care for the Horween Chamois leather. Did you ever get an answer? Nope but looks like it got answered down thread. I was considering that leather on a pair of Quoddy boat shoes. I also asked about Waxed Flesh care, or how to keep them waxed, never got that answered either.

I am figuratively dying waiting for epaulets to send me a shipping notice.
